New Zambia national team head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic says he is not feeling any pressure after taking over the Chipolopolo top job.
The Serbian gaffer is however not taking for granted the responsibility he has of not letting down the soccer fans.
Micho also revealed that he had an option to go somewhere else where the job was easier but decided to come to Zambia where he has a huge challenge and knows that it won’t be a walk in the park.
The former Uganda boss says he and the team will try their best to prove that they belong at the top of Africa Football because African Football needs Zambia.
“There are sleepless nights and hardworking days ahead of us. The matches will not start on the 26th but it’s now after the end of this event,” he said.
” I need to tell you that for us coaches pressure is our fuel. We are people that never give up and never say die. I had a chance to go somewhere more confident but I chose to come here because I believe in what we are supposed to do. It’s a challenge and is not a walk in the Park.”
Just to tell you what is pressure, I have been in my country where the Americans are robbing us, Snakes are coming from down and people are shooting at you that is pressure, Syria is pressure.
“This is a game but I am fully aware of my responsibility that we have no right to let you down. We shall not let things run away from us. We have to be like suicide bombers, try everything we can to show that we belong. African football needs Zambia, We need to show practical ambition and practical execution to want to get back to Zambia belongs there,” he added.
Zambia has a busy schedule ahead starting with back to back AFCON qualifiers against Botswana in March.
The Copper Bullets are also expected to start their race to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this year. Zambia was drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia, Mauritania and Equatorial Guinea.
