Nkana look for redemption against in-form Eagles

Nkana FC will on Saturday host Green Eagles in what promises to be an exciting match in the week 21 fixtures.

Nkana are straight from twice giving away a lead in an eight goal thriller which saw them lose 5 – 3 against champions Zesco United and will be looking at venting their fury on the Choma based side.

However, Nkana will be up against an Eagles team which has not lost a game in the last five fixtures and is the best team in terms of form in the second half of the season.

Champions and leaders Zesco United will play away in Lusaka against Red Arrows. Red Arrows have also not lost in the last five games and have drawn twice, a similar record to Zesco.

Second placed Power Dynamos will be away against Mufulira Wanderers who will be playing at their new home in Luanshya after Shinde Stadium was shut due to crowd trouble.

  1. Guys any latest news on mayuka where is he and which club he will be joining and mukuka mulenga whts is happening to those two players

  2. A look at the super League and the financial problems the teams are facing I see no reason why some of these Clubs cannot merge, as some of these have the same sponsors and are located in the same area

    1. GBFC, Red Arrows and Zambia Police (Nkwazi), should merge and form one team. These are sponsored by the Government and this will save money for the Government

    2. National Assembly, NAPSA Stars and Lusaka Dynamos can as well merge and form one team

    3. Konkola Blades & Konkola Mine Police should look at merging and forming one team. Why should KCM be sponsoring 3 teams when they say they have no money. Form and sponsor one team

    4. Mufulira Wanderers can merge with Mufulira Blackpool while Chambishi and Kalulushi can merge as well

    Just a suggestion

@ZAMFOOT and my Fellow bloggers I have a question? What happened to the Coke Cola under/20 tournment that was played some time back? Any idea??

      • And what is the difference? If things continue the way they are some teams won’t be able to pay the players leading to disbanding of teams, that will in turn lead to some players becoming jobless and their families who depend on them will still starve

          • My brother are Zambian players in the ZPL fulltime pros or they are either doing education or working with football as part time. I do not see any Zambian player in the ZPL, playing all his career there and be able to feed himself and the family from football earnings once he retires. It is as either one goes into coaching, football Management or as a businessman

  3. I have seen clubs in Europe with different sponsors merging, as long as they are in one location or nearby. It is matter of sitting down and planning. Even some top clubs in Europe are now very cautious on how they spend money. Most have slowed down on splashing money like before. The majority are buying and selling out

In my view Blades and KMP can merge without issues, just like Red Arrows and GBFC

If this can work in other countries why not in Zambia

  5. @ZAMFOOT it is I that made the posting awaiting moderation. Sorry I keyed in a full stop after my middle name, by mistake

  6. @Justice Lukanga Kafusha, the idea is workable. though it is worthy noting from your suggestions that National Assembly is also a Government team from Parliament. NAPSA is a quasi Government team from the Pension Scheme.
One approach could be that each town/city wherever possible forms 1 united team. So we would have all Muf teams co-join and form Mufulira united, or even maintain Mufulira Wanderers, then Kitwe United, Kabwe United, Kasama United, and Mongu United etc.
It could also be feasible for big cities like Kitwe, Lusaka and Ndola to maintain more than one team.
Lets see how FAZ’s suggestion to restructure the league and to increase teams in the ZPL will work out in the short run.

  7. All Nkana supporters kindly send me your email address to 0977 781007 I share with you paper I’ve done-Role of Nkana fans under Club Licencing! At a very minimal monthly contribution of just K20 each, we can raise a minimum of K100,000 a monthly!

    • No we need more Soccer Administrators to package their Club’s Value Proposition aligning it with the same Corporates products (outlining benefits to the Corporate). Companies are answerable to other stakeholders especially Employees that are “Investors” in the organisation’s and Boards not forgetting Shareholders that expect a Return on their invest and not pouring it into soccer (especially as a right and not a privelege as it is usually made to appear on this blog). Under Club Licencing any Team official who doesn’t think on these lines should book out-if they need help let them get in touch and we can assist at a fee (TANSTAAFL-There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch). We’ve done it before as a hobby (Nkana-Mighty at Nkoloma in 2009 and City-Mighty at Woodlands last year and both games pulling crowds typical of a Nkana game!).

  8. Yo idea is not a good in football circles. its far much better to have a wider choice of players than having a restricted number.sometimes players improve theirs performance through experience, exposure. The more players you expose the better.

    • Nkana 2 Eagles 0, Mighty 1 Power 0 with earlier Mighty goal disallowed, Arrows 0 Zesco 2 (Kalengo brace), Brave 1 Nkwazi 0, Gbfc 1 L Dynamos 0, Razor Sharp 3 NAssembly 0

    • Mighty 1 Power 0, Nkana 2 Eagles 0, Blades 3 NAssembly 0, Napsa 0 Zanaco 1, Arrows 0 Zesco 0, Gbfc 1 LDynamos 0 (final result not confirmed), Nakambala 2 Forest 0 etc

  9. Justice, thus merging of clubs by different sponsors is tricky. If teams were sponsored by the same entity yes, e.g. Young Arrows absorved into Red Arrows, Copperbelt Buffaloes absorved by Green Bufalloes, Zecso Luapula or Malaiti Rangers merge with Zescolo, e.t.c. Merging teams sponsored by one organisatiin makes sense. The issue of merging is a good idea. Can Nkana and Power Merge? Can Mufulira Wanderers a mine sponsored club and Mufulira Blackpool,a council sponsored club merge? Can Forest Rangers a Zaffico sponsored outfit merge with Ndola United Council sponsored outfit and Zesco United merge. All these clubs and sponsors have different philosophies, culture, e.t.c some clubs like playing hard running football, others like playing 12 O clock type of football, yet others like playingn carpet football. It’s na good debate.

  10. I have noted all your comments gents. It was just my idea from the way I see Things in Zambian football. It looks as though some Clubs will end up disbanding in the not so distant future
