Next Chipolopolo coach should qualify to AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast says Kamanga

Football Association of Zambia, FAZ President Andrew Kamanga has ‘no doubt that the next coach will be able to meet our expectations that will have the Ivory Coast 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification as a key benchmark. ‘

Since he took over as FAZ boss, Zambia has missed three consecutive African Cup of Nations tournament despite teams having being increased from 16 to 24.

In recent months, pressure has been mounting for Kamanga owing to the national team’s poor results but it seems like he has a plan to regain Zambia’s glory days.

“We have no doubt that the next coach will be able to meet our expectations that will have the Ivory Coast 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification as a key benchmark,” Kamanga wrote

“Our country is replete with so much talent as demonstrated by the success of the junior teams,” he wrote in reference to the Zambia Under-20 2017 African winning side.

While Beston Chambeshi’s three months contract was not renewed, Kamanga has already made his move by handing Croatian Aljosa Asanovic a 3 year deal.

Though FAZ is yet to yet make an official statement, it has been widely speculated that the association is waiting for Ministry of Sports to rubber stamp the deal.

Asanovic is expected to earn around $25,000 monthly.

The successful business has already hired the likes of Sven Vanderbrock and Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic but to no avail.

  1. We grew up walking tens of kilometres to get to a stadium to watch any Zambian side qualify to ACON. Bena he has made himself a factor in our football in the midst of failure, he is the “be all and end all”. Don’t go and show your face at the AFCON, mulekwata insoni!
