Kondwani Mtonga shines for North East United

 

Kondwani Mtonga was today on target for his Indian club North East United as they beat Mumbai City 2 – 0 to go second on the log.

Mtonga who is on loan from Zesco United was again named in the starting line-up together with fellow Zambian Isaac Chansa to marshal the midfield for North East.

He had work to do after he was played through by Koke in the 57th minute as he muscled he way ahead of the defender to put the ball past an on coming Mumbai City keeper Pal.

Mumbai City who were in buoyant mood following a 5 – 0 win in their previous were dealt a further blow when defend Cmovs was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 75th minute.

Guilherme Batata sealed the win for North East in added on time after benefiting from a Keen assist.

Unfortunately for Chansa, he only lasted 12 minutes in the game.

The win puts North East United in a solid second position on seven points, three behind leaders Atletico de Kolkata.

  1. I had the pleasure of watching the game live on Super Sport and can confirm the The Indian league has made some tremendous strides. Good to Kondwani score despite plating as a holding Mid-Fielder.

  4. I think it takes time for people understand that things are changing Indian league has attracted a lot of attention across the globe.Its not cricket alone.

  5. I wish people posting negative comments had facts before they mislead people . I watched the game, the indian league is not that bad . Definitely better than our local league. Maybe even better than the south African league .Almost as good as the English league 1. Wish more Zambian can follow.
