India based Zambian midfielder Kondwani Mtonga has been rated as the Hero League’s second best passer in his first season in India.
Mtonga who is on loan from Zambian Super League champions Zesco United plays for North East United and was key in the club’s season completing 314 passes in 13 appearances, only second to Bruno Aras who completed 382 passes.
The Zambian international who has been named in the 27 man Chipolopolo provisional squad had a return of 2 goals in the 14 game.
Zesco United have indicated that they are willing to allow Mtonga to extend his contract if he and the Indian club wish to do so.
Mtonga is expected to play a key in Zambia’s quest for honors at the 2015 AFCON.

I HOPE HE WILL DO THE SAME THING AT AFCON
its the Indian league……PLEASE!
@kk 11. I second you. lets not make a fuss out of it.
Great Mtonga…. you are in a better league than ours in Zambia! keep playing well you will soon be noticed.
Have you guys seen the DRC team? Awe mwe we are in trouble.
Ba john yashani? Bola nipa chibansa. Like i said before they did scare us in 1989 with even better names but they were beaten 4-2 at Independence Stadium.
I remember Santos Mutubile,Kabongo Ngoyi,Ninga Mbote and Merikani Pangi from that strong Zaire side. True bola nipachibansa.
on paper. it is scary, but lets see wen we get on the pitch. Zambia mostly up their game wen playing strong teams.
On the defensive. DRC WILL SHATTER the porous defence of Zambia , Zambia is no match for Tunisia or Cape Verde . No chance for the chipos and it is only weak and dumb headed minds like paradox who cannot see the handwriting on the wall.
@KK11! Have u taken time to watch the indian league? U can’t compare it to our league in terms of everything ie organization, facilities, sponsorship etc
John relax, congo are goin to as best losers..they have owez hd players in europe.
@Anita, they might be more organized and have the finances but the skill set is what really counts! If you complete X amount of splendind passes against average players, no matter how much the leagues is worth they are STILL AVERAGE. Just because you put lipstick on a pig does not make it appealing, its still a PIG.
Zambians plsyers are scattered are only able to excel in India, Tahiti, and Cambodian leagues, and when one (Sunzu) manages to escape to China, they (Zambians) jubilate as if they just gained independence, describing him as the best defender in Africa… Mediocrity at its “best” indeed.
where you play does matter but the talent you have. egypt and zambia are two african teams which are well known of beating an team in africa especially those teams of stars. eg ghana and ivory coast.
Egypt’s worst defeat ever came from Ghana, 6-1
Talent was never in doubt quality of the league in doubt though. Well done Mtonga on the great stats
@ uncle bobs, I remeber that 4-2 beating! Merikan Pangi was under assault and he had to make the sign of the cross at one point after wave after wave of attacks by stone Nyirenda et al…..!! Smh eyali bola ilya!!!
