African Cup of Nations winning centre back Stoppila Sunzu has been recalled to the Chipolopolo set up, the ZamFoot Crew can reveal.

And coach Beston ‘Quicksilver’ Chambeshi, who is expected to take charge of the Chipolopolo Boys’ Mediterranean tour next month has also summoned a host of players from the under-23.

Straight from having a stellar season with Metz in Ligue 2, the towering Chililabombwe born defender returns to the squad having been overlooked for Namibia tie in March.

Sunzu helped Metz to promotion to Ligue 1 and was named in the Ligue 2 Team of The Year.

From TP Mazembe, Kabaso Chongo is only one with a place in the team. Rainford Kalaba and Nathan Sinkala have been overlooked.

Nkwazi left back Kebson Kamanga is set to earn hist first call up after being capped twice at under-23 level.

The other defenders expected to make the list are Moses Nyondo and Paul Banda of Nkana and Lusaka Dynamos.

Gamphani Lungu of Supersport United in South Africa is also tipped for a call up.

In midfield, South African based duo Donashamo Malama and Salulani Phiri are also on the list.

Emmanuel Banda and Enock Mwepu from France and Austria are all set to make the squad.

Orlando Pirates’ Augustine Mulenga will offer the width.

Upfront Patson Daka is likely to be joined by Fashion Sakala, Justin Shonga and PSL top scorer Musonda Mwape.

The team will be captained by Kennedy Mweene.

Zambia will play Morocco and Gambia in North Africa in the second week of June and then head to Madrid for another tie against Cameroon.

  1. Where is arsenal Tula’s Kangwa He had a fantastic season and has a better depth than some of the players to be called.

    • This is what i have also been belaboring i dont understand why zambian coaches are overlooking this boy. Please Beston try Evans Kangwa, the squad could change for better. He is the link the national team has been missing. “The modern “Johnstone Bwalya ” could combine very well with the under 23 regiment. Give him chance. With the likes of augustine mulenga and shonga the team could beat anyone at caf (even if they are not in the tournament). And let mangani to take over the goal posts.

  2. Why leaving out mbola. Zambia has a gap at left back position. Zambia must also consider Frankie chisenga in England, valance nashimbi in Denmark to try and strengthen the defence. Clatoua chama needs to be in there he’s one of the best play makers. Other wise Zambia have strong team its shocking that they missed afcon.

    • Checked out Francis Chisenga. He should be given a chance at under23. Looks very physical and tall which is a plus. Question is? Is he interested in playing for Zambia. Up to ba FAZ to get in contact with the 2 players. Kamanga do something instead of fwa ku CAF fights

    • Nashimbi is a Danish citizen just checked. He plays for Silkeborg FC and is in action today. Will be another Charlie case

  3. @John
How old is Frankie Chisenga and Valance Nashimbi. I hope the techanical team has read your article and consider the option On Clautoa , these are friendly matches and the coaching team is considering the future, u23 in particular

  4. What happened to the list that came out first, that team is below par and chambeshi must be serious with what he is doing, how do you leave sinkala, kalaba, Evans kangwa and mbola in the team, no wonder he has failed us at nkana.

  5. Honestly that Nyondo boy has been useless for Nkana this season. it is surprising to see him on the list. I would have preferred Mayembe or Chepeshi. It could have been the best time for Nchimunya Munene also to be tested looking at his height, physic, shoe size and speed.

  6. E bwafya – Zambian coaches ! why is Cletous Chama out ?? He is the best talent we have had in midfield for quite a while.
