ZANACO secured the win at Kafubu Stadium courtesy of first-half goals from Idana Chimwemwe and in-form striker Elijah Mandanji, who struck in the 23rd and 40th minutes respectively to put the visitors firmly in control.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Mumamba hailed the performance as “a very important win,” revealing that the team executed their game plan to perfection.
“The plan of unsettling them in the first half, where we scored the two goals, gave us an edge over them,” said Mumamba.
“We told the team we needed to finish the game in the first half so that we unsettle our opponents, and we did just that.”
The victory lifts ZANACO to fourth place on 42 points, providing a strong platform heading into the league break.
“This game has given us motivation because we wanted to reach 40 points before the break,” he added.
Despite the positive result, Mumamba warned against complacency, stressing the need for continued hard work.
“We will get back to work immediately so that we don’t go to sleep before the league resumes.”
The coach reserved special praise for young striker Elijah Mandanji, who has now scored in four consecutive matches and taken his season tally to 10 league goals.
“He is a very important member of the team — a very energetic young lad who has done very well since joining us,” said Mumamba.
“He settled quickly and is delivering the goals, but we must continue guiding him so that he reaches his full potential.”
ZANACO’s next Super League fixture will be against Green Eagles, who recently drew 1–1 with Kabwe Warriors. However, attention will first turn to their upcoming ABSA Cup clash against Kafue Celtic.
