Zambia Super League side Green Buffaloes has officially unveiled their head coach Masauso Tembo as earlier reported by the ZamFoot Crew.
The Zambia army sponsored outfit unveiled the former FC MUZA boss this morning at Arakan Barracks and took to social media to confirm the development.
Tembo officially takes over from Justin Chinama who was sent on administrative leave in March following a string of poor results.
“Green Buffaloes would like to officially unveil Masautso Tembo as the new Head coach as we start the 2022-2023 MTN/FAZ super league, however few changes have been made to the technical bench. Australia Mweemba has been maintained as 1st Assistant,while Dennis Banda and Jimmy Mumba as 2nd and 3rd Assistants respectively.
Former Green Buffaloes and National team player Felix Katongo returns to Green Buffaloes as physical trainer.Davy Kaumbwa has been maintained as Goalkeeper trainer.”
The Club has also unveiled eight new players ahead of the start of the new season.
The players are headlined by the Kafue Celtic quartet of Mwiza Siwale, Clement Kasongo, Kelvin Bwalya and Arthur Muleya.
Former Lusaka Dynamos midfielder Fanwell Mapulanga has also been unveiled as earlier reported by the ZamFoot Crew alongside young and exciting James Kalimina from Panza FC in Eastern Province.
“Green Buffaloes football club is pleased to announce the acquisition of 8players ahead of the 2022/2023 Zambia super league which kicks off on the 20th of August 2022.
The players acquired include Clement Kasongo, Arthur muleya,Kelvin Bwalya Tembo,Mwiza siwale (All from Kafue Celtic ) all on a 1year seasonal loan..while Fanwell Mapulanga (From Lusaka Dynamos), Joseph Chandwila (Mpulungu harbour) and James Kalimina (Panza fc ) have been signed on permanent deals.
Green Buffaloes wish to welcome all the newly acquired players and wish them well as they represent the club this season.”
Meanwhile Club Chairman Col Humprey Sindawa told the players that the expectations are high from the sponsors who would like to see success associated with the 1981 Zambia Super League Champions.
“The expectations from the sponsors are very high. Am excited and anxiously waiting for Saturday to see the performance of the team.
Don’t be under pressure, just do what you discuss with the coach. Am not a person who gives targets but success is natural and everyone wants to be associated with it,” he said.
“We will do what we promised you and if you do well, we will also do more. Coach and the new players welcome to Green Buffaloes,” he added.
Director General of Sports, Commerce and Community Services Branch, Brig Gen Dan Tembo assured the club that the Command will take care of all their needs and that success will be rewarded handsomely.
“Sports kit, allowances, training pitch are the issues we discussed and we are looking into this. We are looking into it but it won’t be done overnight.
We expect to see fireworks, and balloons. The training you went for was supposed to help you perform well in the coming season and I hope that will happen. Has you launched into the next season we expect you to perform well because the support has been given,” he said.
“You have a challenge now because the Women brought a cup and everyone will be looking at you and what you will be able to do. The name of Buffaloes has gone regional because of the Women and now the onus is on you.
The Emoluments for you will be based on performance, you perform well, you are rewarded, If standard is K8,000 you do well you go to K10,000, K12,000 and so on.”
“Let us work as a team and forge ahead, the sky’s the limit. Our command is ready to support you in every way possible,” he added.
The Betway sponsored side also unveiled their new playing, camp, and training kit for the new season.
