The Zambian duo will today be in action with their club teammates in the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualification round.
Chanda and her BIIK Kazygurt teammates take on Croatian side, ZNK Split Women while Chilufya and her Tomiris Turan teammates face off with English side Manchester City Women.
Kazygurt and Split will be meeting for the first time in this competition with BIIK Kazygurt having recorded 18 wins Since they first featured in the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2012.
Grace Chanda who joined The team earlier this year making her the 4th Zambian player to join the club after Misozi Lungu, Rachael Kundanaji and Prisca Chilufya who have all since moved on.
Chanda will be eager to make her UEFA Champions debut and hopefully make it to the score sheet following in the footsteps of Kundananji and Misozi who have already recorded at least a goal in the UEFA Women’s Champions League with Misozi being the first Zambian to score in Europe’s elite Women’s club competition.
Chanda helped the Copper Queens clinch bronze at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup in Morocco with three goals to her name and was the top goalscorer in the 2021 Women’s National League season with 35 goals.
Chanda is synonymous with scoring goals and was the top goalscorer in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifiers for Africa with eight goals. She also scored 86 goals in 26 games for ZESCO Ndola Girls in 2018.
Meanwhile country mate Prisca Chilufya also has the same ambition as she looks to help her side Tomiris Turan who face English side, Manchester City Women.
She will come up against a number of European Champions with England among them Lucia Bronze, Georgia Stanway, and Lauren Hemp.
