Lucky Msiska demands $78,000 from FAZ

FIFA is yet to communicate with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) over the US $78,000 it owes former national team assistant coach Lucky Msiska.

FAZ general secretary George Kasengele said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that the association only received a letter from Msiska’s lawyers.

Msiska, who also doubled as under-23 national team coach between 2010 and 2011, has dragged the national soccer governing body to FIFA over the unpaid dues.

“We received a letter from his lawyers but we have not received notification from FIFA. We are waiting for communication from FIFA,” Kasengele said.

He explained that the contract Msiska is using against FAZ was drafted by the local soccer governing body to assist him to get his salary from Government because it was difficult for the State to pay him without a contract.

“I do not want to dwell much on this because he [Msiska] knows the circumstances. In the meantime, we are waiting for FIFA to communicate,” Kasengele said.

He recalled that a similar incident occurred during the former FAZ president Evaristo Kasunga era when former national team coach Ben Bamfuchile dragged FAZ to FIFA but the matter was referred back to the local industrial relations court since he was Zambian.

Bamfuchile drilled the national team between 1998 and 2000.

And Minister of Youth, Sport and Child Development Vincent Mwale says FAZ has not approached Government over Msiska’s matter.

“We need to get to the bottom of it because our obligation is to the senior team. We need to find out whether Msiska had a contract or not but in the meantime, there is little I can say because the issue is between FAZ and Msiska,” Mwale said.

Mwale said in Lusaka that he has not yet been availed with details, and feels restrained commenting on it.
“I feel restrained at the moment to comment because I don’t have any details,” he said.

Msiska and Dario Bonetti, a former Chipolopolo trainer, had a fall-out after the former criticised the Italian’s coaching tactics.

Msiska is also a former national team winger and was part of the squad at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, where Zambia reached the quarter-finals.

  1. FAZ should help Msiska get his money. He lost job because RB imposed Italian Bonnet in FAZm by force. The Italian was paid. Unfortunately ifi twaba they will not pay Msiska.

  2. Amazing how quiet people are on this issue. This is the problem with FAZ and how they treat local/Zambian coaches.

They are expected to eat patriotism. When Janza complained, people told him to shut up and be patriotic. Here is the issue. Lwandamina’s work and payment should be on paper period. As should have been Lucky Msiska.

Ben Bamfuchile went to the grave owed money.
Freddy Mwila who is now on crutches and destitute is owed money.
Keegan Mumba went to his grave complaining about non payment.

How long before someone wakes up and gets this fixed? SMH, its like talking to the deaf. Its amazing that you have to be a foreigner to get respect as a national team coach in Zambia.

  3. FAZ is broke-can pay debts, Msiska is just one example-, Chipolopolo going downwards very fast on Fifa rankings and to crown it all, not even one Zambian player on the recently released CAF list of nominees for 2015…. It’s an unmitigated disaster. Time to call an Indaba and sort out the mess.

  4. Faz should pull up its socks in the way they manage soccer affairs .Is that the way to treat players and coaches and other countless people who try to lift the football standards in our beloved country Zambia. One day faz is going to cry when we the fans boycott watching matches ..

  5. Why does he want all this Money? Where is the contract. The guy only coached for a few months and is not even qualified and yet he wants Money. Bushe kula pela fye. Mune M’siska explain to some us why you are claiming the 78,000 USD

    • Ba Justice I always said Msiska was a plank after having watched a match with him and noticing his shallow analysis and getting feedback from some local coaches. Ali chankwilafye achofa ka opportunity and for that he deserves to be paid as reading between lines FAZ have acknowledged the debt by saying Lucky is luckily usingg letter FAZ drafted for him to haunt them!

  6. The fact is that he worked, the issue of whether he has papers or he’s qualified can only be shares to us by his former employers. Let’s learn to appreciate our own.
