Zambian lad gets Spanish la liga trial

Twenty year old Sulanji Mwabala Nauman a Zambian football player based in Denmark has received an invitation to attend trials at Spanish La liga side Rayo Vallecano.

Sulanji whose parents are both Zambian has been at the Brazil Football College in Denmark the past couple of years where he has developed into a reputable midfielder to the extent of initially attracting interest from Atletico Madrid.

A Zambianfootball.co.zm source revealed that the trial at Atletico Madrid fell through because the director at his academy failed to agree on terms with Atletico Madrid coach.

“The coach would not have outside players for training, and with the mood and uncertainty at the club, we assessed that Rayo would be a better alternative. We are happy and relieved that it is now becoming Rayo,” he said.

The college also confirmed the development stating that Sulanji, a wide attacking player, and another academy player will be in Spain until the 17th of October, 2015.

“The level of youth football is high in Rayo in Atlético, and so the boys are guaranteed a good reception, because it is a little smaller club. The important thing for us is quite clear that the boys receive a good learning experience in the Spanish capital,” the academy stated.

Sulanji who has received a Chipolopolo junior team call up in the late Keagan Mumba U20 team before, said he dream remains for him to play for the Chipolopolo.

When the ZamFoot Crew queried about his citizenship considering the the name ‘Nauman’ he left that for his mother Joyce Namumba to handle.

“After his daddy Mr Mwabala passed away, I got married again. Then he was adopted by my husband. But he has refused to change to European citizenship, because he has a dream to play for his country,” Joyce told the ZamFoot Crew.

Rayo are currently 15th in the Spanish Primera División.

With U17 captain Patson Daka also attending trials at Spanish club RCD Espanyol, it brings to two the number of Zambian players pushing for a place in the Spanish leagues.

  1. At least he is patriotic and has his head on his shoulders. Education is important so let him get that as well. If he is good he should be given the chance to feature in the underage teams. But i sense his family could have had a hand in his absence because of the father’s death and relocation by the mother who is now Mrs Nauman.

All the same it’s good that Zamfoot has brought him out of hiding again. If he is good let him be given the opportunity.

  2. Let him be called for assessment. If he is good enough let him play for zambia at the caf under 23 next month. But knowing kalu he won’t call him because he won’t benefit anything by marketing him. These guys are killing us with their marketing antics. Calling failures when we have good players.

  3. So even Patson Daker is attending trials in Spain? No Zambian player have ever succeded trials in Spain. Should just start trying trials in Iraq, Palestine, Israel and Gaza strip.

  4. Mumbi kkkkkkk ati they should start attending trials in iraq, gaza strip, or palestine vry funny indeed bt i believe patson z there bcoz of kalu. 5. This kid deserves support …even if he is not all that good…for national marketing purposes and visibility of our national team ….Zambia does not exist in Spain in terms of football….Let those characters that choose players be told ……

  6. Sad that this lad has been forgotten all this time.I dont see this young starlet making it in the chipolopolo setup as of now.Things at football house are not well presently,Im amazed that FAZ can lose track of him even after a callup to the U20.

  7. Yes he needs your support, but name also in which way e.g. is it financially, vocal as usual or?? Please enlighten us
    Thanks

    • Ba Justice. I think the support one is referring to is mental by way of boosting the boys morale similar to how we support other players on this site. I don’t think financial support is needed.

  8. i think Su has da heart en which z important.voco az usuo, let da boy b gvn a chance we are tired namapulanga yabene badyamo bene kalu.evrything nw az bcom bad.luk at da jessy our national team z wearin kaya kapena ni desingn yakuti.awe kalu temunobe abash kalu

  9. I think Sulanji has to play for his country, this is a wonderful news, there are many who have gone forever. he is proud, we have to be proud too to have such a boy who loves his country Zambia so much. real Zambian boy. many want to stay in Europe because of money. But he chooses Africa Zambia. FAZ do something.

  10. Just search for hom on youtube, the lad is very good. He can be a very good addition to team Chipolopolo. I have downloaded about 10 of his videos. He has even sponsored a tournament in Zambia called Cup of hope for young talents. What a patriotic Zambian. He is very good. If we can have him and Ndumba Makeche, we can say Russia here we come.

  11. he is a true zambian. lets be there and support to move with whole heartedly. i hope ba great kalu wil do something 4 zambia
