Southern African rivals Namibia and Zambia will be aiming to break their duck when they lock horns in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek on Saturday afternoon.
Kick-off is at 16h00 CAT.
Both Namibia and Zambia suffered defeats in their respective opening round Group K fixtures last year.
Chipolopolo suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat at home to Mozambique while Namibia lost by the same scoreline away to Guinea-Bissau. As a result, their clash in the Namibian capital makes it a must win for both teams.
Zambia, who were crowned Afcon champions in 2012, last played against neighbours Zimbabwe in the 2018 Cosafa Cup final, losing 4-2 after extra-time. The Copper Bullets beat Namibia on penalties in the quarterfinal stage of the same competition.
Sven Vandenbroeck will be aiming to reignite Zambia’s Afcon hopes as the country set their sights on returning to Africa’s biggest stage, having missed out on qualification for the showpiece in Gabon. The Belgian took over the national team reins in July.
The Brave Warriors of Namibia lost 4-1 to South Africa in their most recent encounter. Namibia last qualified for the Afcon tournament in 2008, crashing out in the group stages in Ghana.
They also bowed out in the group stages of their only other appearance at an Afcon tournament, back in 1998 when the competition was hosted in Burkina Faso.
In contrast, Zambia have qualified for 16 Afcon tournaments, with their only win coming back in 2012 when they beat Ivory Coast in that memorable final showdown.
Referee Juste Ephrem Zio of Burkina Faso will take charge of the clash.
Zambia Starting XI: Kennedy Mweene ©, Solomon Sakala, Stoppilla Sunzu, Kabaso Chongo, Lawrence Chungu, Nathan Sinkala, Salulani Phiri, Rainford Kalaba, Augustine Mulenga, Patson Daka, Fashion Sakala

Any live links?
16′ Namibia 0-0 Zambia
The home side dominated the first 15 minutes.
Zambia now enjoying a bit more possession.
You missing Shonga in lineup.
Solomon, and Lawrence are doing so well.
Lets kick start our journey to Qater2022 Chipolopolo iye.
@Zamfoot updates please and thanks
37′ Namibia 0-0 Zambia
Namibia has had two good chances in 3 minutes including a one on one against Mweene.
Surprised not to see Mwepu in the starting lineup. Who are the named subs? Also, can anyone suggest a good link where we can watch this? Chipolopolo!

Keep them coming, updates.
Any updates?
42′ Namibia 0-0 Zambia
Patson Daka ballons in the 18 yard box. He should have done done better.
45′ Namibia 0-0 Zambia
A good interchange of passes between Augustine Mulenga and Rainford Kalaba. Mulenga sends in a good and Kalaba heads over the bar.
That was close.
So far Solomon of right back is man-of-the-match. He is overlapping.
Zambia not coordinating well in the mid. Phiri and Sinkala both covering, no one to surge forward. Particularly that Mulenga is not fit enough. I suggest the coach ubstitutes one a for more mobile mwepu.
HALF TIME: Namibia 0-0 Zambia
Zambia finished strongly despite a poor 30 minutes.
Sven needs to bring in Enock Mwepu for either Salulani or Sinkala.
Apart from Mwepu on the bench, one would envy Sven’ s bench.
Clatous Chama, Lubambo Musonda and that man Lazarous Kambole.
It’s a rich bench!
47′ Namibia 0-0 Zambia
Second half is underway.
Namibia pushing through the middle, Zambia needs to spread wide using the wings.
No coherent strategy or impetus from Zambia going forward, Namibia looks hungry. Second half and still being pegged in our own half
Mweene is too slow when he has the ball Solomon and fashion as well as Augustine to be substituted
66′ Namibia 0-0 Zambia
Augustine Mulenga misses from the close range. Kalaba is surprised.
Thanks for the updates from the Guys and Zamfoot.. What do you think we need changes upfront? Will only watch a delayed match.
GOAL ALERT! Namibia 1-0 Zambia (Benson Shilongo 78′)
Substitute Shilongo puts the the Brave Warriors in front.
Yangu!!!!
How many minutes to go?
FAZ has failed. This idiotic administration must be forced out.
That’s bad. No subs ba Zambia?
There is no clear strategy for Zambia going forward. They are playing like a team that needs a draw. Pegged in our own half the entire game. Not seen Zambia dominated like this in a while despite the plathora of talent on display.
Zambians overrate their poor players
If they played the whole game like they have played in the last 10 mins they would have won this game easily.
Someone says 87 minutes played zamfoot muli pa 78. Disappointing game tefyo. Mr. Kamanga this is your call now. Mwalechifya sana sana.
Goal. Deflection.
GOAL ALERT! Namibia 1-1 Zambia (Benson Shilongo 78′ | Justin Shonga 90′)
Justin Shonga’s free kick is deflected as he equalises for Zambia.
in my view, the starting lineup up was poor. We didn’t go to defend in Namibia, but we wanted to win. I don’t blame to coach but FAZ who didn’t provide the coach with an opportunity to look at his players in terms of friendlies.
FULL TIME: Namibia 1-1 Zambia (Benson Shilongo 78′ | Justin Shonga 90′)
A late equaliser from substitute Justin Shonga earns Zambia a point against Namibia in the Cameroon 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier.
Just watched the 2nd half only. Zambia looked too desperate up front where calmness would’ve yielded more chances. Once Mwepu came on you could see his influence on the game. Why the coach wouldn’t play both Daka and Mwepu together is puzzling. We have some serious speed up front. Just need to know how and when to use it. Anyway 1-1 is a decent result for the first time together.
Wow. No words!!
A draw is better. If we had lost we would have been totally out. Will watch match later. Set a recording button.
Thanks guys for the updates. We have a lot of work to do. @BuzzEdd who was our outstanding player?
It was really hard to tell @Sibs and that’s what was lucking in this team/game. Nobody wanted to take charge and push for a win, they played like a group of good players invited to play nice with each other. Mwepu though was an exception. That boy is brilliant. Not sure why he didn’t start but when he came on, he initiated a move that resulted in a clear handball in the 18yard box. The linesman and referee rather than pointing and blowing for a penalty both just looked away. The introduction of Lubambo,Shonga and Mwepu definitely changed the complexion of the game in the last 10 minutes and that is when the goal was scored. They brought urgency, desire and pressure to surge forward like we were expecting the entire game. For now, will give the coach a pass, he needed a friendly game or two to fine tune his charges. Although I was left questioning his strategical acumen. But that is being extremely unfair to him if we are to even believe the reports of a missed training day leading up to the game due to not having a practice pitch.
Very poor starting lineup Im veery disappointed How does Mwepu start on the Bench? Why did Augustine straight from injury start the game? The wing backs were so Poor??? How do you play two defensive midfielders ??? Why play 1 striker when we have red-hot strikers like Kambole and Shonga?? These are simple footballing basic tactics..
Massive crowd in Maputo 1nil up second half underway Mozambique leading GBisau its going to be tough for Zambia to qualify
One wonders playing salulani phiri ahead of mwepu
Everyone could see that fashion sakala is more of personal glory
Kambole could have done more than fashion
Cletus could have been more effective than mulenga
Kalaba still has football brains
Mweene is also a big problem that’s why he is not playing at Sundowns he concedes silly goals
The abundance of talent that was at the technical bench one wonders why we can not even at least dominate the game
Maybe its a bad omen of mbola’s dismissal from teach
Otherwise kalu has gone with all necessary tools for qualification to afcon
Mbola is an idiot. I hope he will never get close to the national team again.
It was clear that the two subs (shonga and mwepu)should have been on the pitch earlier. We’ll give the coach a benefit of doubt, considering that it’s his first game. Mwepu’s impact was instant! Shonga scored, Lubambo forced a brilliant save from the goalie….
we all wanted Zambia to get mixmam point.let’s hope the game between Moz and Gnb to finish draw.we still have 4 games.we can still qualify.the coach is still looking for a right combination.
MOZAMBIQUE 2 GUINEA BISSAU 2
Surely how could mwepu and cletus warm the bench anyway people made a lot of noise when Wada Wada was coach I could see a future for chipolopolo unlike this current coach
Mbola has late the nation down..
The guys played well.Augustine Mulenga and fashion sakala the were holding to the ball for to long.kalaba played well you can see maturity and experience when he has the ball. A draw is better than a loss.there is no more small team in Africa. Zambia can still qualify.
Mwepu what a talented player he changed the game and lumbambo Musonda. You could see agency when the came in. Mwepu is marvel to watch Mulenga and fashion their decisions making when their holding the ball is poor
