“I have played a lot of football since arriving here but the football atmosphere here is different”
There were the remarks of one Lee Addy the Ghanaian center half currently at Lusaka Dynamos who played the entirety of the Dynamos derby that played out to a 1 all draw in Kitwe.
The comments followed a tightly contested match which had a very different kind of atmosphere in the stadium which has since drawn different kinds of reactions from the Zambian football fraternity including condemnation from a renowned blogger while drawing praise for the passion from the Ghanaian international.
Addy further lauded the Arthur Davies Atmosphere and said it was like a cup final or like in the Champions League.
Power Dynamos fans turned up in large numbers clad in their traditional yellow color for home games and loudly cheered their team on while attempting to taunt former Power Dynamos Forward Fwayo Tembo who on the afternoon was making his debut for Lusaka Dynamos after completing a dramating switch to the Lusaka based side.
You are right Lee, actually, football in Zambia is made in Kitwe! It is sad you came at the time we lost Nkana Red Devils, Power 90, Mutondo Stars, Kitwe Utd, Mindolo Utd, Chibuku Warriors, Big Coke, Ajax, Melody, Mwabonwa, Sanctery, Youth, CISB, Athol Rangers, Kitwe Skills, Kamfisa! We were a force! To win a place in Nkana A, you needed to be good! Very good!
This guy was a world cup defender for Ghana in 2010 after sterling performances in the Ghana league. He played in Europe and Asia after but his career never went the way it should have gone. So sad. I hope he enjoys the Zambian Super League.
