Kazala: Simataa will not be FAZ GS, he has no Ex-co support

The Football Association has categorically stated that veteran football administrator Simataa Simataa will not be the General Secretary at Football Association.

According to a communication issued today by FAZ Vice President Richard Kazala, Simata is not being considered for the FAZ administrative top job as he is serving a FAZ/FIFA ban.

“Mr. Simataa cannot be considered for this position because he faces FAZ/FIFA disciplinary action and has no support of the executive committee,” the communication from the Kazala stated.

“Mr. Simataa could not be disciplined over the couple of years as he withdrew his FAZ membership but upon his decision to register with FAZ, sanctions will be imposed on him as per correspondence from FIFA.”

Simataa received a life ban from FAZ in March 2014 for issuing disparaging remarks against the National Soccer governing body when he appeared on a Radio Phoenix Program Let the people talk programme. Prior to his ban he was already serving disciplinary charges for taking the Association to court when he sued FAZ for defamation.

He has been an ardent supporter of the newly elected FAZ president Andrew Kamanga was seen by many as the automatic choice for Kamanga to be General Secretary.

Others tipped to take the position include Erick Mwanza who is currently serving as club licensing officer.

PRESS STATEMENT
(For immediate release)

Football House, Lusaka

31st March, 2016

APPOINTMENT OF FAZ GENERAL SECRETARY

Pursuant to provisions of the FAZ constitution at Article 29.1,i “The General Secretary of FAZ shall be employed by the FAZ Executive Committee on conditions to be determined and agreed on by the Executive Committee”. This procedure is preceded by Article 28.1.v which states that the “president shall propose the appointment and or dismissal of the General Secretary”.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Executive Committee wishes to state that we have not met to deliberate over the appointment of the General Secretary to take over from Mr George Kasengele who indicated that he was parting company with the Association by 31st March 2016.

Media reports suggesting that the Association had appointed Mr Simataa Simataa in the said position are false and do not sit well with the Executive Committee which has well-meaning members of society who believe in respect of the Constitution, collective responsibility, inclusiveness and good ethical conduct in their discharge of duties mandated to them by the FAZ Councillors and on behalf of the millions of Zambians who love and cherish the game.

The president of FAZ has not proposed any name before the ExCo as required by the Constitution for consideration for purposes of filling the foregoing vacancy. This Executive Committee has a legitimate mandate to make ‘good’ decisions without abusing the trust and faith the councillors have in all the office bearers elected earlier this month on behalf of the Zambian people.

No acts that go against the spirit of consultation and team work and most importantly the FAZ Constitution will be accepted. This Executive Committee firmly believes in the rule of law and will stand against any arbitrary acts which would be against good institutional mannerisms and a betrayal of the Good Will and trust of the footballing fraternity and well-meaning persons.

We promise to defend the integrity of Zambian football and pledge to work hard to ensure that football is a tool that unites the nation, on and off the pitch, with the aim of flying the Zambian Flag even higher.

We would therefore like to appeal to the football family to ignore and set aside rumours about any individuals being lined up for the position of General Secretary. In particular, we would like to stress again that Mr Simataa Simataa (named in the media) cannot be considered for this position because he faces FAZ/FIFA Disciplinary action and has no support of the Executive Committee. Mr Simataa could not be disciplined over the last couple of years as he withdrew his FAZ membership but upon his decision to register with FAZ, sanctions will be imposed on him as per correspondence from FIFA attached shows.

  1. Yaba, Kazala also. Is he the acting spokesperson of FAZ? I thot they should have discussed the matter as Executive before going to the media.Simata may not be the right person but the way he is coming out! He(kazala) has ruled him out.

  2. What did Simataa do to be sanctioned ba Zamfoot? Your report is not complete. I think despite of that we need a level headed person not a cadre type. Both Simataa and Eric do not fit the profile. If you really want the secretariat to be administered professionally, forget those two oh include Liwewe on that list. Give them something else to do not heading the secretariat.

  3. Uko elolwanya. Who in his right sense could even think of having the filthy and scruffy Simataa as General Secretary? Mulenya baf1kala coz Zambia is going nowhere with these morons.

  4. That simataa is a worst of space Ponga yes and for communication officer i think a pretty lady with journalism experience can do for a change.#will leave it rite here

  5. Kamanga will not accomplish anything as long as Kalu’s people are still in FAZ, the best way for Kamanga is to force all those undermining his authority out of FAZ just like what Kalu did to Munaile and co. These Kalu’s right hand men will be obstructionists just like the republicans have been to Obama. Kazala and all those that were part of Kalu’s corrupt admin will do everything possible to see to it that Kamanga fails so that they can say “you see we told you so”.

  6. Let the best person for the job be the one, we have work to do. Let calm heads prevail. Let bitterness be left in the past.

  7. Kalu is no longer in FAZ. There is only decisions made in Zambias best interest and decisions not made in the coutries best interest. Zambian fans will not tolerate people bringing politics in football, hero worshipping and Kalu are no longer a factor.

  8. that is the spirit. we totally want progress as soccer fans not finger pointing. just from removing one ” icishiki in our way ,another one sprouts” pliz spare our.all we went is tangible progress ama politics kindly join PF or the other party.

  9. Kamanga has been making a number of pronouncements without taking into account that whatever decisions have to be made with approval and support of Executive . I have heard him a number of times and each time is using “I” to refer to the association like is the sole authority .He has hinted at introducing new reforms ,making amendments to the constitution so that they limit the number of terms FAZ chief . The truth is that Faz executive has been supporting Kalusha and it might be difficult for Kamanga to make critical decisions where executive members are in parallel contention . This week is coming to an end,his promise to have the position of SG filled is not being implemented.

  10. Simataa is a straight forward, honest administrator. One might not like his style but he gets things done with integrity. This is indiscipline from Kazala. Who authorised him to issue that statement.

  11. Kazala you will very quickly loose respect from us the footballing family if you chose this petty route of rhetoric. Chose you battles wisely and don’t think just because it is now available on a platter the media is the best way to deliver off the cuff statements. preparation before making any media statements should not be the best option, it should be the only option. lots of people actually want you and Kamanga to fail so be careful to work diligently and not politics type of work of running to the media exposing the fact that you have an issue with Simaata. Many of us are very aware Simaata might not be the best man for the job but be careful with how you approach the issue. We want professional football administrators and not politicians with personal childish little grudges running our soccer. Don’t make us who are currently neutral to your leadership style start doubting you so early.

  12. Kazala, Erick Mwanza Call Illegal Executive Meeting To Impeach Kamanga Today

Grade seven drop-out Richard Kazala, who is new FAZ vice-president, has called an illegal executive committee meeting to be held at Football House today in collusion with suspected criminal Erick Mwanza to impeach Andrew Kamanga.

According to Football House sources, Kazala wants to install Erick Mwanza as FAZ general secretary so that they can conceal illegal activities of money laundering that transpired the last eight years.

Several executive committee members have however rejected Kazala’s manouvers saying it was unconstitutional. Kazala is only supported, albeit partially, by his former Nchanga Rangers member Blackell Siwale.

Brenda Kunda, Elijah ‘Shenko’ Chileshe, Dr Christopher Mulenga, Lee Kawanu, Kabaso Kapambwe and Rix Mweemba have all rejected attempts by Kazala to bring Football House into disrepute by acting beyond his mandate as vice-president.

Sources say Kazala’s attempt to usurp the constitutional powers of FAZ president Andrew Kamanga have received massive resistance.

“He’s frustrated and now want to bring confusion. We have told him this is not the right forum to behave like a lumpen,” a source in the executive has said.

There is a meeting expected at Football House today whose impeachment of Kamanga has, however, flopped. Erick Mwanza is soon expected to face criminal charges of embezzlement after failing to account for close to K500, 000 accessed from FAZ coffers.

  13. News coming out of football house is that Lwandamina has been releaved off his duties has national team coach after FAZ had a closed door meeting with Zesco officials…
