Kamanga: I am ready to work with Kalu

FAZ president Andrew Kamanga says Kalusha Bwalya is not his enemy and he is ready to work with him in developing football.

Last week, special assistant to the President for press and public relations Amos Chanda said President Edgar Lungu wants to encourage Bwalya, the immediate past FAZ president, to support his successor, Kamanga.

In an interview, Kamanga said he was ready to work with Bwalya in the development of football. He said the counsel from the Republican President was very welcome.

“We are not enemies; I am ready to work with every Zambian who is ready to develop the game, including Kalusha himself.

Football is for everybody. The elections are behind us. This business of camps and groups have come to an end.

We need to move together as one unit and develop football. That was wise counsel from the President,” Kamanga said.

Last week, President Lungu wanted to hold a meeting with both Kamanga and Bwalya but the meeting failed to take place as both had commitments.

Kamanga said he would be available for a meeting with Bwalya anytime. “I am available; once the meeting is called, I will be there,” said Kamanga.  Bwalya did not respond to a query sent to him by press time.

  1. But why where you not ready to work with him when he was President. Do unto other what you want them to do unto you. The truth still remains, Kalu remains an house hold name and Kamanga need him more than Kalu needs Kamanga. There is just so much hatred in the country to an extent that people fail to see the good in others.

    • No, that is the mistake we make. Kalusha has done his part and we appreciate. We don’t need Kalusha near FAZ because he is not a natural administrator. Kalusha’s expertise will more valuable in football development at grassroot level, academies, role of welfare improvement of ex-footballers etc, not anywhere near FAZ. When Kalusha was FAZ president, was he willing to work with Kamanga? Did he ever invite Kamanga to work together? The answer is a clear no.

      • But Billy the fact that Kalu didnt want anything to do with Andrew shouldn’t be reason enough for Andrew to distance himself from the Bwalya! Two wrongs will never make a right…I however agree with you that Kalu was a hopeless administrator and damn right corrupt (we received 2 million USD for winning 2012, got paid a million each for playing Brazil and Japan thus FAZ had four million USD and they were broke a year later…criminals!!!)
Kamanga should actually audit FAZ books for the last five years!!! Now that will give Kalu and his mates sleepless nights…

        • Agree with Prince. It’s the role of other stakeholders to encourage their collaboration where possible.

On the question of allegations misuse of funds:

I dearly like Kalu but those allegations against Kalu and administration need to be looked into by relevant authorities for soccer’s sake…issues mustn’t be personalized and allowed to breed unnecessary resentfulness that would further poison our football…we cant afford more of the Kalu-Charles feud. Nothing strong can be built of a rotten foundation.

      • You are missing the point… We are not saying Kalusha is the best, he has his own strengths and abilities. You cannot erase the name Kalusha from the minds of alot of people around world. He can still contribute positively in other avenues. If you make it difficult for other people to work when you are on the other side of fence, you expect the same to happen to you. We need love in Zambia, not hatred!!

      • Ba Billy Kamanga himself is admiting why are you refusing on his behalf? Kalu is Kalu its not any other person calling for a meeting its the Presido he knows why best

    • Yes i agree with billy, kalu can help on a technical level but let the adminstrative side of things be done by the admin. Kalu will not want to work with kamanga and that is the truth. Kalu will not appreciate the acusations made at his adminstration regarding corruption and everything… It is not eay for kalu to say everything is fine we’ll work together. We have to let the dust settle. At the end of day it was Kalu adminstration which created this division. I do hope hope they come together eventually, but for now let Kanagas admin do what they intended to do.

  2. Hmm! So it’s going to be another AFCON without Nigeria. How the mighty have fallen. The pharaohs are back in business.
NB: Congrats to Renard for qualifying Morocco.

  3. Hmm! Another AFCON without Nigeria. How the mighty have fallen. The pharaohs are back in business.
NB: Congrats to Renard for qualifying Morocco.

    • Some groups had amakula. Look at the group with Zim, Malawi, Swaziland. For us any of the top three can qualify. Good for Morroco though.

  4. Africa and indeed the world is angry with Zambia. The truth about how invaluable Kalusha is to the Zambian game will soon be known. However, despite all you put the man through especially by labelling him corrupt and calling him names consider yourselves lucky because you have a true son in him. He can still help Zambianfootball in future. Key to this is approach and timing. Other countries are watching with keen interest. Remember that that the poison you spit out can be a palatable and nutritious meal to another.

    • Noooo. Kalusha can still play a role in Zambian football other that being FAZ president. You’re the people who create the animal in man (dictatorship). It is always best to leave the arena whilst people are still clapping. Kalusha can still play a role of for instance, technical director to Zambian national teams, U17, U20 U23 or even senior team. I believe that is role that would fit Kalusha well. Surely he doesn’t have to be a FAZ president forever. This wamuyaya mentality is what has destroyed Zambia. Why would Africa and the world be angry with Zambia? Democracy prevailed at FAZ elections and we should learn to move on. Sometimes change is inevitable. Let us embrace change.

  5. The Nambiya people of Pandamatenga(Botswana) have a saying that goes ” usi nyire pa uno teka vura”. This when translated literally implies that do not relieve ( defaecate) yourself in your source of water ( well). The essence of it is that if one puts this into practice they may return to the same source in times of need. Zambia and indeed Zambians must take a leaf from the Nambiya moving forward.

  6. wow…..Kalu is a demigod in some peoples eye’s isn’t he. Looking behind and not forward is the reason Africa regresses instead of progresses, look back mentality when the rest of the world is looking forward.

Kalu did his bit now lets move on. We will learn from his successes and failures and improve the game and the next person after Kamanga the same thing again.Kalu has achieved many a great accomplishment but lets not forget he is also human and he is certainly not indispensable, no human is and should be.

So I guess we should all follow the wisdom of Pandamatenga to improve Zambian football…kikikikikiki!!!!!

  7. @sly a bemba saying which goes like” ukowashika imfutu, takwalinga ukulilako mumbwe” the corruption issues levelled against KAlU were too rampant & although not taken to court so that he can tried ,that aspect has dented his name to some extend and hence eroded the confidence people had in him.not only that accountability to the large extent was not forth coming during his regime. So many too ama hiccups here & there.change is also important to embrace news ideas.boss “apa komaila nondo inshipali ubulema ” no smoke without fire.Kalu has attributes which are good as well as bad ones,& it is because of the bad ones that has cost him.that is my opinion

  8. First of all, let me congratulate bloggers for the high level contributions (Chola Mlongoti, PHOTON and Big Steve, also others not mention), although as usual there are those that seem not to make any sense (like..).

Kalu has no option but to continue supporting Zambian soccer but in a way that makes him feel comfortable and valuable. For now its too early to start dragging him left and right. He needs to recover from the loss and shake off the disappointment. We`re all human beings and thus equality should be the way of life coz no one is superior to deserve superior treatment. We live in a world were the majority always rule regardless. Kalu had the majority until there were no more. Its Kamanga who has now and so he must rule and ruling he will with or without some people`s support.

    We need AFCON 2017 though.

  9. Hatred is not good. Kalu accepted the defeat, and certainly he had need to stay as the FA president being a normal ambitious human being. Personally i would have given him a chance to grow his stock even further. I like the number of deals he was attracting into the Zambian game too. May it continue under Kamnga, he gets the support of every well meaning Zambian.

When is the under 17 Africa cup coming, preparations must start now, we need to make the places hosting this tournament very clean and hospitable…is it not partly due to kalu and KK that we got it. England lined up David Bekham and never got their world cup, SA Mandela. Don’t harm your heroes over oeanuts, they raise the countries profile.

  10. Leave Kalu alone. When the time comes for him to play a role in the Zambian game it will naturally fall into place. Let him rest and focus on other issues. He is a proven patriot and no doubt has the country at heart. Lets see what Kamanga can do. And don’t vilify the man, he is not the source of this suggested “meeting”.

  11. kalu and Issa Hayatou are the same. Kalu was one of those that changed caf constitution to make Hayatou like a life president.

  12. West africa this west africa that. When will zambia ask for soccer development tacticks from the west africans rather than this envy and jeloussy it will get you no where. Ghana and Ivory Coast were in the finals of afcon not because their are cheats but simply because they ARE GOOD TEAM. IF ZAMBIA FEELS THEY ARE BETTER THEN PROVE THIS BY SCORING GOALS AND BEATING EVERY TEAM IN YOUR WAY.. NONCENCE. JUST WIN YOUR GAMES AND SHUT UP IT YOU CANT WIN THEN ITS SIMPLY “THE OTHER TEAM IS BETTER” FULL STOP!.

  13. The all blog leaves me with some un answered questions. Who really wants kalu back? Is it lungu or kanga? Isn’t lungu interfering with football administration when the councillors said no to kalu by refusing to give kalu a vote? Isn’t lungu forcing kalu on kamanga? If lungu means well, why did himself refused to work with Guy Scott or even ministerial position to late president sata’s wife? Doesn’t being voted out mean, your leadership is no longer needed? If councillor’s said no to kalu, why is lungu struggling with the facts of democracy?

  14. @90min i think what president lungu is trying to do here is cultivating the spirit of working together not the political of your thinking. better think of solutions to improve situations than personalised attacks. it doesnt mean because lungu is not working with Scot the he cant advise on such a vad vixe. i dont agree with you. Kalu n Kamanga can indeed work together just like all our politicians in our country can, since all want to serve a common zambian.

  15. President Lungu should stay out of as it is tantamount to supporting corruption. The previous FAZ was corrupt

In my view all those that in the old FAZ should leave. I have seen some have already left. Mwanza and rest please leave now. Mwanza caused Zambia to lose the contract with Nike. Kalu borrowed 80,000 USD in the name of FAZ, but the money was put in his private account. FAZ paid air tickets each time Kalu travelled from and to SA, There are many more issue like involving himself i player transfers when he knew very well he was not a football agent (The Mbesuma transfer for example)

Why should Kamanga work with such a person. I rest my case

  16. SO HR has qualified Morocco with two games to go, Nigeria are out of the tournament…interesting times in African football.

    • Interesting times indeed! HR on his way to beating his own record…The way Morocco plays show lots of determination. Also watch DRC …full of talents (a mixture of Europeans of DRC origin and locals) comfortably beating Angola in Luanda. Bafana is also lots of quality, though lacking steel. Nigeria is a victim of its own chaotic ways…just wonder sometimes why they behave as if they were the anointed leaders of Black Africa.

  17. Forget Kalu, he screwed us up with his corruption and that was his doing not us, a lot of people were excited when Kalu was elected as FAZ president until he started his shenanigans. Unlike you Kalu worshippers, a lot of us common sense Zambians hate corrupt people because the problems associated with corruption are detrimental to development, let alone football. So let Kalu go and spend a lot of time in South Africa where he has been leading Faz with a remote control. Good bye Kalu, I won’t miss your shambolic leadership. Good riddance, what a much needed departure this was.

  18. this chilwandamina is dull ,we told him not to experiment those tiny unskilled players in the name of Boyd, chempeshi, patson daka now Cletus Chama.our qualifications is dice now .and you Ghanaians get out of our site.you not Zambias threat but our customers

  19. Kalu enjoy your time and stay humble put your family first now for these politicians and camps ain’t loyal thats a fact, you are definitely a true patriot of Zambia, why not call charlie snr musonda let him show his patrolism to zed and work with kamanga ya right goodluck with that?

  20. @zamfoot,i know selfmad’s comments had been barred cos that dude hardly gives up in replying imps and imbeciles here that think they are the doyen of acerbic tongues, Ghanaians aren’t fools to be insulted and wouldnt fight back?Your continual barring of our responses ignite a defeatist attitude on your part,be fair to us all to dish out our more than equal acidic response to some pathetic immigrants here pls!!

    • Do us a favour. Would you kindly leave this site if you’re tolerating bad behaviour from your fellow Ghanaian. If you want to blog without insulting, you are most welcome here. Zambian nationals are the owners of this blog and so behave.

      • We used to be so civil on this site. am surprised with this development ie insults, very deep ones that should be reserved for a porno site. I miss the days when we could engage respectfully with the likes of Chamwe Kaira, Kafusha Justice ( even when we deiffered it never came to such low levels, big steve, uncle Bob and so many others. Limbi abaice bafulisha.

  21. KAMANGA IS A COWARD,NOW THAT HE IS PRESIDENT HE IS READY TO WORK WITH KALU,WHEN HE WAS IN OPPOSITION HE NEVER WANTED ANYTHING TO DO WITH KALU

  22. @tc. I used to take on selfmade without insulting his parents. it is wrong to insult other pepo’s parents, but selfmade himself is an expert at that and has done that alot, so I hope he has learnt a lesson.

  23. Zamfoot’s lack of news has turned this site in2 a porn site. Bloggers r hungry 4 news thts y they hv become explicit. Is throwback thurs dead?? Hit us wit some new stuff or u can copy and paste from other print medias like Post or Daily mail. #jst gonna leave it rite here real quick.

  24. I fear for my Zambia Mr. Kamana first in charge of the office and Zambia might just fail to qualify, Kalu left when Zambia was joint log leaders and 2 games gone winless meaning we are in position number 3. Ok lets watch and see Kamanga is FAZ Presido and Edgar smells a rat in the Kitchen

  25. Congrats to HR for qualifying morrocco with 2 matches to spare. I have always held my view that HR is a good coach. In 2010 he made Zambia reach the quarter finals in Angola.2 years later, thanks to great Kalu who brought him back, Zambia lifted the AFCON after so many attempts. Later he made Ivory Coast win the AFCON.

  26. Pres Lungu always has in-depth intelligence information, he knows why he said such. On the other hand , I think let’s give Kamanga time to settle.
