Katongo brothers cleared to play for GBFC

Former Chipolopolo captain Christopher Katongo will this weekend return to play in the Zambian Super Division after he completed a move to Green Buffaloes football club.

His young brother Felix Katongo who was also part of the legendary Africa Cup of Nations winning side is also back at GBFC.

It has been over 10 years since Chris played in the Zambian league and has played in South Africa, Denmark, Germany and China.

Another Zambian legend Joseph Musonda is set to sign for Nkana after about 10 years of playing abroad.

Should the veterans be given a chance to play in the CHAN team?

  1. These boys contributed to the 2012 afcon title, very very dedicated players not these crop of players in our national team.ati paul katema, jimmy ndhlovu, patson daka mu foot.

  2. Why do we have to crucify younger players like Paul Katema. I thought the blame must be shouldered by the experienced guys because they owe the young ones the same or even better guidance compared to the one they got from Chris,Joe etc.

  3. I think we need the exprience of the old guys these yougsters hav disapointed us so many times.when was zambia last quilify 4 chan we need the katongo brothers in the team.

  4. CHAN is meant for player development. In my opinion winning it is not as big a deal as getting players exposed and giving them international experience. These guys just need to focus on finishing out their careers and helping mentor the young players on their respective teams.

  5. Hell no,if we do that then when are the so called up coming players going to gain international exposure. Moreover CHAN is were we are supposed to use the likes of Patson and friends to get those caps they dearly need so good thing these veteran have come back but please you have done your part now is time for new blood to carry on from were they left from.

  6. Mbesuma should also go back home. that would be nice..
Then become league’s top scorer and back to the team , recharged with a “raw hunger”

  7. i gree with THE UNDEFEATED GORO, we need ck11, felix, joseph musonda, francis kasonde, billy mwanza & isaack chansa in chan squad, ck11 wil be a captain. we can win this chan championship, in Rwanda.

  8. ooh please guys, granpas in developmental sides then when are these lads going to gain the much needed exposure. If we play Patson in those games he will learn one or two things but play CK,Muzo,Jet Lee all they gain is a pay cheque.

  9. Gentlemen playin those guys in chan shud b the last thing in our minds. Chan is a developmental tournament and not 4 pensioners. Pa last ati naba Harry Milanzi must play. They are an asset in the ZPL let’s leave it there. CHAN awe mukwai…

  10. CHAN is for all local players and its not a developmental Tornament that’s were I think we are wrong, posibly its why can’t win these minute Tornament. We developing all times and we hvnt not developd anything.Under 17,20 and 23 are developmental teamz finished!let’s be serious Zambians. Therefore were it neccesary let’s combine old and young players to add xperience from old players and freshness from young players.jokes aside let’s win all competition.

  11. yo developmental team has failed they cant even beat minows like malawi, guinea bissau, & we were nearly being booted out by namibia, we need C11 to lead the chan team b4 hang up his boot.

  12. It s only in Africa where people are used and thrown away like tissue. Chris is the most successful Chipololpolo Captain ever. Yet the way he was fired from the team leaves a lot to be desired. If countries like Zimbabwe can organise testimonial match for their players, why then not Zambia? Chris shud be bade farewell. Kalusha himself fought for it and when Brower cudnt give him, he came back for it against Madagascar and scored. Jealousy Kalu is making life difficult for us soccer followers. The last game Chris played for Zambia, he was the best player yet he had to be fired for reasons yet to be clearly explained. Only a miracle will see us to Afcon 2017 with this attitude.

  13. “Pafwa bantu pashala bantu!” Welcome guys! You are the best in our league for now and hopefully you get into the national team soon. The new lads are just pretenders to the throne!
