Katongo advised me to sign for Amazulu instead of Turkey – Mukuka

AmaZulu’s new Zambian midfielder Allan Mukuka explains that it was not easy coming to South Africa and that he sacrificed an offer from Turkey for the PSL.

The 28-year-old Zambian international said that he had already received many offers, but was advised to start at AmaZulu buy his fellow countryman Christopher Katongo who has lots of PSL experience.

“Christopher Katongo advised that I must come and play in South Africa because there is a lot competition and from there I can be exposed.

“It feels good to be here, it was not easy joining the team. I had to work hard and fortunately the coach liked me,” said Makuka.

With the club playing in the National First Division, the former Green Buffaloes player said that he wants to help create goals and add value.

“My football is going forward and I need to supply crosses and help the team score goals. My ambitions are high so I need to work hard and bring the team back into the PSL top-flight,” he said.

  1. Smdh. So you went to South Africa instead of Turkey because you figured you could get more exposure in South Africa, ello not even the PSL, but the second tier 1st division. This from a player who is 28 years old. Sigh.

  2. for what mukuka did is just as good as going to consult a carpenter instead of a doctor.may be in other words katongo was trying to tell you that you wont make a grade in turkey.so it means mukaka doesn’t have a manager.come on katongo last time you said something negative about kangwa. today you ill advised allan mukuka

  3. 28 is his footballing age. The man could be way above 30. Sometimes you consider your true age before making a decision. Who knows? It may be too late for him to make a grade in Europe. Ishi mibili sha Icibemba ka. Very deceiving. Lol.

  4. I have always said that Zambian players don’t aim high. They have very little ambition. I am not surprised by this useless decision Allan Mukuka made.

    • And Zambian Clubs’ Management Teams don’t help out as they only concentrate on Coaching (that only looks at performance-short term) leaving out other important aspects Mentoring (Career development) and Counseling (Day to day personal issues for the player-financial, social, psychological etc). I’ve always sang this TRIPOD counsel and the earlier we embraced the better!

      • Well said Uncle Bobs. You’re very right. Like you’ve said, and rightly so, I think Clubs should do more in mentoring, coaching (life skills) and counselling our players. It’s not just about playing football, but also teaching our players about Life Skills.

  5. @ZAMFOOT is it really a Club in Turkey or is it AmaTuks from PLS? I think it is AmaTuks and that is why Mukuka asked Chris for advise. At AmaTuks the boy would have been subjected to trials where there was no guaranty of being successful. At 28 he made a good choice, as this is about earning some cash for himself and his family

There is no Turkish club mentioned in the report and turkey has no PLS, that is why I conclude so

  6. ahahahah Alan Mukuka mbuya ,Katongo anakugong’er ,you should have thought of your age before u got cheated with exposure in division 2 ,the best at your age it’s money not exposure, you should have gone to Turkey and worse more you sign a 1yr contract ahahah wake up kalubemba.
