Indeni hammer YASA Queens as Buffaloes, ZESCO Ndola Girls, Elite Ladies and Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles win

The ZPL Women’s Super League returned from a two-week break in emphatic fashion on Wednesday with goals flowing across several venues as Indeni Roses, Green Buffaloes Women, ZESCO Ndola Girls, Elite Ladies and Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles all recorded victories.

A total of 18 goals were scored in the round of matches as teams resumed the race for honours and survival.

At NASDEC, Indeni Roses produced a ruthless first half display to thump YASA Queens 5-1.

Grace ‘Pogba’ Phiri set the tone early with two quick goals in the 9th and 11th minutes to put Indeni firmly in control. Ngosa Chabwe then extended the lead with a brace of her own, scoring in the 26th and 31st minutes as the Roses ran riot.

Rhoda Chileshe added the fifth goal just before the break in the 44th minute to cap a dominant opening half.

Harriet Matipa grabbed a late consolation for YASA Queens in the 82nd minute, but it was little more than a consolation as Indeni cruised to victory to move to 58 points.

At Reiz Arena, Green Buffaloes Women reclaimed top spot on the table after edging Konkola Blades Queens 1-0.

The decisive moment came just before halftime when Phyllis Kangwa turned the ball into her own net in the 45th minute, handing Buffaloes the win and moving them to 59 points.

In Chipata, ZESCO Ndola Girls claimed a convincing 3-1 victory over Chipata Girls.

ZESCO took the lead in the 18th minute through an own goal by Rosemary Sakala before Thandiwe Ndhlovu doubled the advantage in the 53rd minute.

New signing Mercy Chipasula marked her debut in style when she came off the bench to score in the 59th minute, putting the match beyond reach.

Memory Zulu pulled one back for Chipata Girls in the 74th minute, but ZESCO Ndola Girls held on comfortably for the win.

At the Kabwe Rugby Ground, Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles secured a 2-0 victory over Amazing Grace thanks to a brace from Naomi Chiwele.

Chiwele opened the scoring in the 35th minute before sealing the win with her second goal in the 55th minute.

Elsewhere, Elite Ladies edged Trident Queens 2-1. Phidah Muzuwa gave Elite Ladies the lead in the 4th minute, but Elizabeth Chishimba equalised for Trident Queens in the 21st minute.

Pervis Kangalangala restored Elite Ladies’ advantage in the 55th minute, a goal that ultimately proved to be the winner.

At Independence Stadium, Luyando Foundation Girls and National Assembly Women shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

Patricia Lampi gave National Assembly the lead in the 10th minute, but Tamika Simpamba levelled matters for Luyando Foundation Girls in the 18th minute.

Meanwhile, Nkwazi and Red Arrows Women played out a goalless draw at Edwin Imboela Stadium.
