Kasonde ditches Power for Nkana

Defensive midfielder Richard Kasonde has ditched Power Dynamos to join arch-rivals Nkana FC.

Kasonde who arrived at Power Dynamos from Kabwe Warriors at the start of the 2014 season was an instant hit at the CEC sponsored side scoring 10 goals which helped Power to finish second.

However, his fortunes have dwindled this season which has seen him lose his first team position.

A source close to the Nkana technical bench reviewed to Zambianfootball.co.zm that Kasonde has signed at Nkana and has started training with team.

Nkana have been eying the midfielder and first tried to snatch the player at the start of the 2015 season but will now complete the signing of the player during the mid-season transfer window.

  1. There is a mix-up in the way the story has been written. In some sentences it sounds as though he has signed for Power from Nkana.

  2. i jst dnt get it with zambian coaches.this guy is gud.i saw him playin for warriors and hes a marvel.Nomba ba tenant ubupuba bena stops playin him.all the best muntu wandi.pa chilata nomba nxt year bak to kabwe.

  3. Is the transfer window open? Did Nkana buy the player? What was the process for this move?

Am I the only one seeing how this is the root cause for most of our transfer issues when it comes to Zambian footballers. A player can wake up today in the local league and simply pack his bags and go to another club and we sit here and say good move. Yet when this sort of stuff happens with foreign clubs and there are major mix ups…case and point; Ngonga, Mbola, Mayuka, Lota, Sunzu, Sinkala…etc. We sit and blame FAZ or Kalu wants money. Bottom line is we do this to ourselves. When we allow a culture such as the one seen in this story. Maybe it was by mutual consent or some sort of agreement, but its not even mentioned in the story. Sigh.

    • Boss mid-season where transfers are allowed in the Zambian League is around the corner. It’s very legal and in line with FAZ Statutes!

  4. but how do u let a player like that go, en still claim u want the best for the club? KWWF som ‘technical benches’

  5. You guys are trying to confuse yourselves with a straight forward story here.

“Defensive midfielder Richard Kasonde has ditched Power Dynamos to join arch-rivals Nkana FC”. Nichizungu.

“A source close to the Nkana technical bench reviewed to Zambianfootball.co.zm that Kasonde has signed at Nkana and has started training with team”.

Oh! i see, you wanted Zamfoot to say ati Nkana paid 20pin for him thats when it will be less confusing? kikikikikikikikikiki

  6. A player ditching one club for another outside transfer window – has even started training. Gents, is this happening in Zambia’s premier league or social football league? Is Zambian football governed by any rules at all? What nonsense is this?

  7. Before mid season transfer window opens, there is nothing wrong /unusaul for a player to start training with the team he/they intend to play for BUT cannot feature in any official league game until when all the transfer requirements are concluded and player duly registered by the team acquiring his services.

    • There’s everything wrong with that dude. To say there’s nothing wrong/ unusual before mid season break simply shows that we are going by rules made in a pub.

      • Awe Ba Paddy, it depends on contract expiry date which in this case has most likely expired. These clubs in most cases have lawyers who advise them and FAZ have a Players Status Committee headed by one of our (Zamfoot) own Spaks (Believe you me, this is one high on integrity I can confirm). With Club Licensing coming, governance structures at Clubs will improve and I’d encourage you the younger ones to start joining these Clubs like a few from this Zamfoot Blog have done so far-ROK (longtime stalwart), Chairmanizo (Celtic-now FAZ), Spaks (Nkana, FAZ Players Status and now Heading Club Licensing), Dinamo (Power Dynamos EXCO) etc

        • Uncle Bobs I’m trying very hard to make sense of the story above in light of what you’ve said here. But something still tells me something is wrong. Whether there are lawyers or player status committees but the fact that a player ” ditched one club for another does not seem like proper procedure. If his contract expired as you allude to then that cannot be termed as ditching. Unless you tell me that this article is misleading (which will make great sense).

        • Uncle Bobs, I agree with Paddy on this one. Firstly, thanks for at least trying to explain this, but I also hope you see where Paddy and I are coming from on the matter. What are the clear and existing rules and regulations on football transfers in the Zambian league? How can this happen outside the transfer window?

          • I agree with the two gentlemen Uncle Bob there is always an air of mystery when it comes to ZSL transfers, not so long ago there was the issue of Nyambe Mulenga who was among players ‘released’ by Zesco united. When we learned he had signed for Power Dynamos and as fate would have it; showed some good form. Zesco united went back and claimed he was there player! so it’s either there are things that are agreed to that we are not made aware of or our transfer system is just flawed.
