Kanyemba Unveils 28-Member Provisional Squad for World Cup Preps

Zambia U17 Women’s National Team coach Carol Kanyemba has named 28 players for the second phase of preparations for the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be held in the Dominican Republic from 16 October – 4 November, 2024.

The majority of Kanyemba’s squad comprises players in the Women’s Super League with inclusions from the National Division One and the provincial league who will enter camp in Lusaka over the weekend.

Zambia will be making their second appearance at the U17 World Cup and will battle Japan, Poland and Brazil in Group D of the eighth edition of the global attraction.

They will open their campaign against Brazil on 18 October 2024 at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo before their penultimate group phase match against Poland three days later at the same stadium.

The Copper Princesses will wrap up their group match against Japan on 23 October, 2024.

  1. Trusting the same coach who failed to win COSAFA while using experienced players to do wonders at the World Cup is a failure to reason properly & realistically.

    The way she blamed GBFC players & threw them under the bus, so shall it be with FAZ by independence day. Clearly FAZ has failed to adequately prepare the U17 girls for the World Cup & its clear the coach is merely getting ready for a holidy in the company of a bunch of girls….
