Kamanga prefers Patrice Beaumulle over Lwandamina, Wada or Janza

FAZ President Andrew Kamanga’s prefered choice to take over as next Chipolopolo Boys coach is Frenchman Patrice Beaumulle, it has now emerged.

According to the ZamFoot Crew sources in Paris, Kamanga has already contacted the Frenchman on the posibility of him returning to Lusaka.

While the other camp in the FAZ executive committee have identified veteran Kabwe Warriors coach George Lwandamina as their preffered choice, it is believed Kamanga will do whatever he can to bring back Beaumulle.

Honour Janza, now in-charge of Tanzania and Mozambique based Wedson Nyirenda have all being linked with the Chipolopolo job.

Patrice was in charge of Ivory Coast at the last African Cup of Nations.

But it seemed liked the FAZ Chief has set his sight on the Frenchman.

“The two [Kamanga and Patrice] have been exchanging notes for some time now. Actually Kamanga and Patrice did meet in France before Zambia’s defeat to Ivory Coast in March.

With Croatian coach Aljosa Asanovic set to take FAZ to FIFA for nonpayment of his dues, Kamanga wants to name his new coach soon.

Beaumulle was recently in-charge of Ivory Coast but was sacked after he failed to qualify the team to the World Cup.

He also had a spell as head coach of Morocco Under-23.

Beaumulle was also part of the Zambia’s 2012 African Cup of Nations winning squad when he saved as Herve Renard’s assistant coach.

The two went on to guide Ivory Coast to the 2015 AFCON.

He was also Renard’s assistant coach French clubs Sochaux, Lille and Metz.

  1. Where the senior men’s national team is involved, Kamanga is a failed project. Even on the league. He campaigned on a platform of increased corporate sponsorship but none of that has come to fruition. In this day and age, honestly, how does a big footballing country like Zambia fail to pay a low level coach. And now we want to engage someone else? What sense does that make. I have no doubt Kamanga is a savvy businessman but clearly football administration is not his thing. He has made the business comnections and exposure that come with this role but now is clearly the time for him to do some soul searching and leave this position. He is setting us back and that is very sad to see

  2. When it comes to Mr. Kamanga and hiring a coach, it seems to get worse by the minute. From hiring an interim coach to oversee qualification to hiring coaches on big salaries who went away faster than they came. Hire a coach you can pay. Better still, allow more capable people to hire the coach. Not this overrated guy who will command an inflated salary

    • @ The Big Show, I’m not sure about Moses’ coaching pedigree abd if he isnthe right person for this job. At this stage we need stability more than anything at the senior national team level. Whether a local or foreign guy, we must get someone we can afford to pay and pay them on time. We complained when Assonovic was hired and did the same with the guy 2 guys before him because, there seems to be no transparency in the way these coaches are hired. A while back you would see the job advertised and qualifying candidates shortlisted but these days all you see is a guy picked and given a job without any vetting. This cannot continue

  3. What nonsense is this? FAZ failed to pay one foreign coach’s salary and is being sued, and now they think they can hire another one? Is this a joke?

    • Guys i thing the croatian was fired after mozambique game. He was too small to coach chipolopolo. Bring that french man he ca deliver. Sichone has no direction let him remain assistant. He is not brave enough to challenge kamanga. Thats why they are fielding chipantepante players to markert them. That chamanga boy is too old to play in that team….they are leaving out a lot of players with potential…

  4. Wedson Nyirenda would be a great coach. If given time, supported and trusted he can build a strong and winning team. Zambia should not always look to foreigner coaches, it’s time to come out of that and believe in our national talents.

We also need to invest in the upcoming coaches through training and coaching education, so that we continue producing our own coaches and have a national brand. Zambia can do it, all we need to do is stop looking at ourselves as inferior, and unqualified. Many other African countries such as Senegal, Ghana all are empowering their local coaches. It’s amazing that we always want outsiders to teach us and we don’t learn enough to take charge. Time to invest in our own. FAZ we can do this!

  5. Don’t bring back the former assistant coach to H, Renard, but just promote Moses sichone, don’t underate him, don’t repeat the same mistakes Mr kama kamanga, remember that team the kk 11 was being coached by the local coach, you Mr kamanga yourself you are a local guy why can’t you trust your fellow local guy’s, or coaches

  6. This time Mr Kamanga is right, Patrice Beaumell is the best coach to help the national team. He made us play a good game against Brazil. Moreover he knows our style of play cause he was here.

  7. The most important this is making sure the money is available to pay any coach they choose to engage. FAZ is failing to jump start the faltering Senior Mens national team. How many coaches have we been through over the past 3 or 4 years. Local and foreign have not done well. Its also about our league, majority of the team is made up of locally based players that fail to play on the international stage. They cant string more that 2 or 3 passes together. Our strikers are below par, goalkeepers struggle, midfield is always disjointed. We need a complete reboot and rebuilding from the bottom up.
