Kalusha’s lieutenants tender in resignations

Barely 24 hours after the Kalusha Bwalya lost the FAZ presidency to Andrew Kamanga at the 2016 FAZ AGM, some of the key men who saved under him at Football House are leaving the stage with him.

Zambia national team manager Lusekelo Kamwambi was the first to tender in his resignation. In his notice to the secretary general, Kamwambi indicated that his assistant Stanley Kaseko would handle the logistics for the team in camp to fill the gap he has left.

“I wish to give the incoming executive freedom and latitude to perform their functions without having to ponder on what to do with me,” Kamwambi who has held the position since 2010 wrote.

FAZ Communications Manager Nkweto Tembwe this evening also wrote to the Secretary General stating that he will not renew his contract which expires on 31st March as he requested to take leave till then.

“My reasons for this action are purely professional and personal,” Tembwe stated.

“In order to avoid hiccups in the game of football we all love so much, I am ready to start handovers to my successor or indeed any officer with immediate effect,” Tembwe added.

FAZ Secretary General George Kasengele has also reportedly resigned after he clearly indicated that ‘he is joining Kalusha in leaving the stage’ in a moving tribute to the deposed president.

“I join you in leaving this stage as your defeat is my defeat,” Kasengele wrote.

With the national team in action in about 72 hours, new FAZ president Andrew Kamanga has the challenge of ensuring that the boardroom changes do not affect the team’s preparations for the upcoming games against Congo.

  1. Those resigning where there on person interest not to help the country. No condition is permanent dont influence the players we need to win on wenesday

    • Football House is like a bus no one sleeps in it. So do Kalu , he can not be there for life. Change is what we wanted. Thanks for the change. .

  2. Go well mwalya shafula! ‘ARROGANCY PAYS’. @chris I agree with you there were at FAZ for personal interest now that akapunda baisala kupyamofye. After all if they had football at heart they would have maintained their positions to work with the New executive till babafwampulapo. This is typical of ‘BIRDS OF THE SAME FEATHERS’and cowardice at play umunenu has lost ati naifwe twafileka SHAME ON YOU! However ur opinions and decisions are respected.

  3. @self-made!u cannot believe that Kalu is no more at football house! Did you expect him to go on forever?! He has run his race and its time to hand over to someone else. In fact after Afcon 2012Kalu went to sleep together withour football. The game has looked after him with his family. Everything in Faz became the “Presidents”!.camping of team in RSA, checking players passports, which pros to summon,Kola not good enough, funding poltical party, etc. Finally any queries about finances, youth football, sponsorship, policy decisions, residence in RSA etc were met with a sharp retort “am not answerable to anybody?!” Good riddance!!!!!!!!@@

  4. Its ok, I believe Zambia is too big enough of a country. Could be a blessing in disguise as others will takeover the reigns.

  5. @ Mambwe Phiri Greek football is fairly high Europeanp standards and Kola is holding down a place, which means he Is a useful striker. Nobody is doing him a favour by keeping him on their books.

  6. @Slim.Dont you think Kamanga ,Vincent Mwale,RB are the same group coz there is nothn that had been done its a step backwards as we will have to start from scratch again.Kalu was on the right path but selfish people never gave him peace during his reign. This is not the end.His going places. He still remain an ICON

  7. We cannot afford to stagnate, its time for fresh ideas. Kalu and his team did their part and we appreciate them. Its time to move on.

  8. if kamanga wont qualify zambia to the world cup then he will be a failure coz africa cup we hav won it already and i dont think we are looking forward to any continental title. Kalu has done his best for mother Zambia and he deserves respect not insults. but anyway we need to support this change and lets see what the kamanga group brings.

  9. If others are resigning following the loser, this means they were not working for Zambia but an individual who lost. Please to hell with them.Hence marching orders are effected, remember you resigned today but audit will follow you.

  10. For me I can just congratulat kalu and his group their hav done their part let us give support to new FAz president mr kamanga. We’ll do for the strong heart you had for the past year of strugling kip it up plz we wish u you will finish the desease of tribe in Football of considering some other not also try to bring those who had scatered including young man chaly musonda chelsea young player its go…..go kamanga yu are great.!!!!

  11. We had before the likes of kamanga no cup came our way! Nothing will happen under kamanga. He may know local games management but international! I doubt!

  12. FAZ House was no go area to those who were not in the camp of Kalusha, now the ship has sunk and everyone is jumping out

  13. Zambia’s football is gone with Great Kalu , what a loss . I smell disaster in this new management and forget about Russia 2018 ,even to the players in the camp I think they are shocked to lose Kalu , this is disaster .phd syndrome

  14. I am Kalu fan but I accept that Kamanga won. Lets respect the wishes of the people albeit, seven of them.

I think Kalusha was unfairly criticized. Yes he had faults but I doubt Kamanga will surpass Kalu’s achievements

  15. This is the nature of elective positions; Kalu’s passion for Zambia can’t be questioned and he can still contribute to the development of soccer. Wishing Kamanga the best for Zanbia’s sake and what we expect him to do better than the previous administration. Also wishing Kalu all the best.

  16. Where is Eric Mwanza. I thought he should have been the first to jump ship. He has always been very nasty towards Kamanga. same goes for Zite Tembo and company on QFM’s soccer chat. Those guys were so biased in favour of Kalu such that I now wonder how they will engage the new executive in a progressive manner. Personally , I am very excited about the possible new developments under this regime. Expect Ponga Liwewe to be more visible, Simataa to be given some role etc but most importantly, lets just be professional, be fair in player selection, paly on FIFA days with intent to win ( field the best team not students ) travel in good time for serious games not arriving 24hrs before a world cup qualifier against Sudan and you expect to acclamatise ( temperatures 40 degrees plus ) awe natwesheko bambi !

  17. kalu, indeed you have run your race to the end.i was always yearning to meet you in face.you are my hero for sure my only hero.kamanga should think of going beyond which i dont see in him.you were unique in the way you handled injustices against unfair officiation.even as i write am in tears.u were the best on the pitch, best in CAF you got cup in 2012 whoelse will surpass u?kamanga thinks its easy to run international football afairs.Being succesful in football is different from managing football.LOLELA
