Power Dynamos extended their lead at the summit of the MTN Super League to four points, while Kabwe Warriors surged into third and FC MUZA staged a comeback win in Wednesday’s rescheduled fixtures.
At Arthur Davies Stadium, Power Dynamos delivered a dominant 3-0 victory over Mines United to reaffirm their title credentials. Austin Muwowo opened the scoring in the 15th minute, rising highest to head home a pinpoint cross from Evans Obgonda.
The hosts doubled their advantage before the break through in-form striker Moses Shumah, who fired in a low right-footed effort in the 42nd minute after being set up by Daniel Adoko.
Shumah returned after the interval to complete his brace in the 71st minute, capitalising on a defensive lapse to calmly slot past the goalkeeper and take his league tally to 17 goals.
The result lifts Power Dynamos to 55 points, four clear at the top, and they still hold two games in hand as Oswald Mutapa’s side tighten their grip on the title race.
In Kabwe, Warriors left it late to secure a 2-0 win over Mufulira Wanderers. After a cagey contest, Saith Sakala broke the deadlock in the 86th minute, tapping in from close range after a well-delivered cross by Munda Phiri.
Phiri turned provider again deep into stoppage time, delivering another teasing ball that was met by Jackson Kampamba, who headed home in the 90+3rd minute to seal the victory.
The win takes Kabwe Warriors to 43 points and sees them climb three places into third position.
Meanwhile, FC MUZA came from behind to edge Nchanga Rangers 2-1 in an entertaining encounter. Mwiza Siwale gave the visitors an early lead in the 7th minute, putting Rangers ahead.
MUZA responded strongly and found an equaliser in the 29th minute through Emmanuel Habasimbi, who finished neatly after being set up by Kalusa.
The hosts then completed the turnaround in the second half when Francis Mashingini scored directly from a corner in the 66th minute to hand MUZA all three points.
The victory moves FC MUZA to 40 points, as they maintain seventh place on the table.
