Kalu: Janza has earned himself contract

Janza earned himself a long-term contract by merely qualifying the national team to the 2015 Africa Cup of nations, says Kalusha Bwalya.

Bwalya, who is the Football Association of Zambia president, said Janza would be offered a long-term contract for successfully steering the ‘ship’ to the Equatorial Guinea AfCON.

He explained that Janza should not be disturbed with his work as national team coach, hence the need to give him a long-term contract. “Honour Janza fits the profile of national team coach; and the biggest request in Zambia is that we support local coaches.

For qualifying, Janza has earned himself a contract. I don’t think he will have to go to this Africa Cup worrying about his position; people should be given enough time. He has done well, he steered the ship to clear waters. The executive committee will have to meet and just put pen to paper,” Bwalya said.

And Bwalya explained that Janza’s assistant Nico Labohm is scheduled to take up the role of technical director. “Nico will also help in Zambia to do the work that Janza was doing as TD. We have the current TD taking up the strings of coach so the programmes should be carried on from the technical perspective. Nico being the assistant will help us,” said Bwalya.

  1. People for once let’s support one of our own though the way he was appointed was nt transparent .Let as Zambianise some of these jobs, surely 50 years after independence we got to do better hence bravo on this one Kalu. Now it is up to Janza now to put the interest of nation first by selecting players who will deliver, forget about cut for now please.

  2. Giving Him the long contract is one thing delivering the goods is another.Only time will tell. But bare in mind that coaching job is result oriented. No matter how long the contract is poor results will send you out of the job.
The current Zambian team should perform at AFCON 2015, or else this is the last chance they will be in team.We have a robust of upcoming players from the U17 and U20 who have an excellent parade to show off their skills at AFCON U17 and afcon U20. The boys will then progress to show that they are not flukes when they will cruse to qualify to ALL AFRICAN GAMES AND OLYMPICS in Brazil as U23.BY the time they will be reaping GOLD in BRAZIL IN 2016, will be ready to capture the AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS IN 2017.The team will ARRIVE TO ROCK THE WORLD CUP IN 2018 IN RUSSIA.

  6. Frank Nonde, very well spoken my brother. I am willing to support Janza, but I think FAZ need to revise how they hire coaches. There should have been a transparent process for hiring Janza or whoever. This Labohm guy is being setup as the next coach should Janza fail, because he will be handed the job without any interview process or vetting.

  7. If Janza is good enough why has FAZ decided to bring in a Mexico based assistant? in addition to the dutch guy who is already there?? Mwenso uyu period
