Kenyan striker Jesse Jackson Were has walked away with two awards at the Zesco United 2017 awards gala.
Were was named the club’s 2017 footballer of the year and also walked away with the golden boot award.
Despite transforming his game in this year which saw him even play wide, Were managed to bang in 16 goals and was only second to league top scorer Chris Mugalu.
His exploits earned him a spot in the FAZ team of the year (FAZ 2017 best XI)
New Chipolopolo call up Lazarous Kambole who was instrumental in helping the team to the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup also received two awards; the most valuable player and the most improved Player awards.
CAF player of the year nominee Fackson Kapumbu received the most consistent player award.
Coach Tenant Chembo who guided the team to the title was recognized with the chairman’s award while defender Ben Bahn who is reported to be on his way out of Levy Mwanawasa Stadium was named the most disciplined player.
