The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) will this year hold the inaugural Women in Football Awards Gala.
The Awards Gala will be used to reward deserving players from the Women’s football set up in the country. The Provinces will hold awards first before the national level.
The awards gala initiative was born from the third goal (Find means and ways to motivate and promote the women’s game ). The women reps looked at ways that could encourage and motivate the girls to play competitive football and in the same vein be able to convince the parents to be able to accept this football career to be taken up by a girl child.
The awards initiative will be used to award the deserving girls in all the 7 provinces that have active leagues including those in the National League, and coaches.
The identification of the deserving players for awarding will be done during the Provincial Leagues. For the National League, the awards will be based on the current season that is running.
The Awards Gala will take place at Arakan Barracks Banquet hall on 26th November and those who want to attend can purchase a ticket costing K1000 across the board.
The idea is to have all Provinces hold their awards gala in the future before the national awards gala.
The categories will be as indicated below;
1. Best player of the season
2. Top scorer of the season
3. Most disciplined player
4. Best goalkeeper
5. Youngest player (Young player of the year)
6. Best female coach
