Zambia national team coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic says if his team wants to go far in the CHAN tournament it has to be ready to meet any team.
Speaking from Limbe Stadium in Cameroon following Zambia’s qualification to the last eight, Micho said he is not disappointed with his team’s performance against the Brave Warriors of Namibia and that he will have face to face individual talks with his players.
“We are not disappointed with the players and we will talk face to face individually and not you because we respect you but am not disappointed with what we have done earlier on because we have tried our best and I can see statistics are favoring us,” he said.
“If we want to go far we have to meet any team, we all due respect to Morroco, they are a top team and they are the defending champions and whatsoever, we are who we are, we shall come with the same approach giving up the best then and looking out a target in this competition was to reach the quarter-finals the moment we pass the quarter-final it could be anyone’s,” he added.
Zambia qualified to the quarter-finals after finishing as runners up in Group D with five points tiled with leaders Guinea who have a better goal difference.
Zambia will now face Morocco in the quarter-final on Sunday in Douala, Cameroon.
My observation is that Zambia needs an intelligent holding midfielder with accurate passes and not one who is just physically strong. I feel Jackson China can take up that mantle not to take anything from Kelvin Kapumbu. The strikers also need to improve on their shooting accuracy.
