Gone are the days for, “We don’t know how they play, we shall play our game.”
Modern football requires meticulous study of the opposition.
That is where team video analysts come in.
Fortunately, FAZ roped in Lineker Mwiikisa as the video analyst for The Zambia Under-17 girls national team.
Against Morocco 🇲🇦, analysing how the Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses play was critical for coach Carol Kanyemba Daka’s side as the Arabs came with a huge reputation of scoring NINETEEN goals in the two previous rounds against 🇳🇪 and Algeria 🇩🇿 without conceding a single goal.
The way the Copper Princesses played over the two legs showed they understood Morocco and nullified the Arabs plus their hostilities to qualify to the World Cup via a 3-1 goal aggregate.
Mwiikisa’s input was vital. The former Zambia 🇿🇲 striker has played football in Portugal 🇵🇹, South Africa 🇿🇦, Mozambique 🇲🇿 and in the Middle East and so comes with a wealth of football knowledge from overseas as well as locally.
He comes with a loaded football background as his late dad Mr. Fain Mwiikisa was a former Football Association of Zambia 🇿🇲 Treasurer.
For the first time in Zambia history Mwiikisa used video analysis software to analyze the Zambia vs Moroco first leg live in real time from the bench. Collecting useful data in terms of Moroccos weaknesses and strong points and presenting them to the technical bench
Lineker has made history as the first Zambian video analyst to help a national team qualify to a World Cup. He is a holder of CAF C coaching license and a diploma in video analysis from Once sport of Croatia
Local is lekker, hey?
Let us not hear again remarks like, “We don’t know how they play, we shall prepare to play our game.”
Football has evolved and with such an attitude you cannot go anywhere.
When you embrace modern technology and an intelligent technical bench like Kanyemba and her team understands it , applies the knowledge and the players play according to instructions, you outwit a quality and hostile opposition to qualify to major tournaments!
