Green Eagles Women have unveiled a new technical bench and seven new players as they prepare for the 2026 Zambia Premier League Women’s Super Division Southern Zone transitional season, as earlier reported by the ZamFoot Crew.
The club has appointed Enala Phiri Simbeye, a CAF A Licence holder, as head coach. She will be assisted by Alex Sikanyika as first assistant coach and Mwamba Kelvin as second assistant.
Simbeye succeeds the previous technical leadership with a mandate to build a competitive side capable of challenging for honours and developing players for the national team.
“My promise is that I’ll be ready to undertake every task, no excuses. My personal goal is to build a team for COSAFA. With the right support, we will do great things,” Simbeye said.
Green Eagles Women chairman Brigadier General Isaac Haminwe said the club’s ambitions extend beyond simply competing in the transitional campaign.
He called on the team to challenge for championships and major cup honours, while ultimately targeting participation in CAF, COSAFA and other continental competitions.
The club also wants to strengthen its contribution to the development of women’s football by creating a pathway for players capable of representing Zambia at international level.
Club secretary Goliath Mungomba said Green Eagles are targeting a top-two finish in the Southern Zone, which features 11 teams.
Seven new faces
The club has added seven players to strengthen the squad across several positions.
Goalkeeper Gift Chimba joins from Konkola Blades, while Ghanaian attacker Miriam Mohammed arrives after featuring for ZISD last season.
Striker Bupe Soko has joined from Ingwe Girls, with defenders Naomi Mumba and Phylis Kangwa arriving from Green Buffaloes Women and Shining Stars Liso Girls respectively.
The midfield has also been reinforced by Rosemary Nyirongo from Yasa Queens, while Given Phiri joins from Konkola Blades on loan.
The new arrivals are expected to provide greater depth and competition as Green Eagles begin their transitional-season campaign.
For Simbeye, the immediate challenge is to blend the new additions with the existing squad while establishing her own footballing philosophy.
The club’s leadership, meanwhile, has made clear that the transitional season is being viewed as more than a shortened campaign, with Green Eagles aiming to lay the foundations for a team capable of competing for domestic and regional honours.
