Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Keith Mweemba says the Association is working closely with the Ministry of Sport, Youth and Arts to facilitate the safe evacuation of Chipolopolo midfielder Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba from Libya.
Mweemba who is away in Paraguay for the FIFA Congress said the well being of players was the top priority of the Association.
“We are working closely with the Government to facilitate the safe evacuation of Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, a vital member of our National Team, back to Zambia.
The safety and well-being of Kelvin and all our players remain our top priority. We urge everyone to remain calm and assured that we are doing everything possible to ensure his secure return.
We appreciate your understanding and support during this time,” Mweemba posted on his Facebook page.

The Ministry of Sport, Youth and Arts says it has engaged the Ministry of Foreign affairs and International cooperation to assist in facilitating the safe evacuation of Kampamba who has expressed willingness to return home.
Meanwhile, The United Nations mission in Libya has called for de-escalation after fighting erupted in the North African nation’s capital.
The UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) is “alarmed by the unfolding security situation in Tripoli with intense fighting with heavy weaponry in densely populated civilian areas,” it said in a post on X on Monday.
Kampamba plays for Libyan top-flight side Al-Madina, which is based in Tripoli.
