The 2014 FAZ-MTN Awards are on this evening at Moba Hotel in Kitwe. This annual event will see deserving footballers and officials being rewarded for their effort in the past year.
League champions Zesco United have dominated the nomination list receiving nominations in all the categories but for the young player of the year category.
The footballer of the year award has two players from Zesco – striker and top scorer Jackson Mwanza and defender Nyambe Mulenga who played the first half of the season at Power Dynamos.
The two are joined by Ronald Kampamba in the race for the top award who has since moved to Egypt.
All Clubs that were in the super league in 2014 will receive their dues according to their respective position on the 2014 FAZ-MTN league table. Footballers, coaches and referees will also be awarded in different categories at individual level. Elegant

LUSAKA – Minister of Youth and Sport Vincent Mwale yesterday met the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to resolve former national team coach Dario Bonetti’s unpaid dues.
“I met the FAZ executive this morning [yesterday] and we will soon give you the contents,” said Mwale in Lusaka.
FAZ parted company with Bonetti on October 10, 2011, two days after the Italian guided the Chipolopolo to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations finals, where Zambia triumphed.
Bonetti took the matter to FIFA, who ruled that he must be paid about US$382,000.

PATRICE Beaumelle has revealed that he is yet to receive his six months’ salary arrears since resigning as coach last August. And sports minister Vincent Mwale says the matter concerning Dario Bonetti’s compensation is nearing conclusion. Beaumelle took over as interim coach when his compatriot Herve Renard left to coach French club Sochaux in October 2013. A month before the start of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Beaumelle also ditched Chipolopolo on account of not being paid, to join Ivory Coast coach Renard. “I am in touch with FAZ and government. Hope they will pay me,” said Beaumelle, who recently won the Africa Cup as Renard’s assistant. When contacted, sports director Bessie Chelemu said the government would soon process Beaumelle’s payment. “We are working on it (his payment), we will soon pay him. We needed to receive money on our request from the Treasury,” said Chelemu. And Mwale yesterday met FAZ over the impasse of the former Chipolopolo coach’s US$382,000 compensation package. “We had a meeting over Dario’s issue but there is one little consultation that needs to be done before we can announce the conclusion to the media,” said Mwale. FAZ fired the Italian coach in 2011, soon after he led Chipolopolo to qualify to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. At the time of his dismissal, Bonetti had a contract with the association running up to 2012. Bonetti filed for a compensation claim with FIFA, FAZ and the Italian FA, claiming US$1.6 million. In April 2013, FIFA ruled that FAZ pays Bonetti US$382,000. The young boy patson daka will be going to a club like barcelona in a few months. This boy is lethal. Zambia is hosting the next u-20 afcon in 2017 another chance for patson to shine.
