The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is concerned with news of the resumption of training sessions by named clubs despite their being a total ban on all contact sport.
In a Press Statement by Communications manager, Sydney Mungala accessed by the ZamFoot Crew, The Country’s Football governing body has advised its membership and stakeholders that it has not issued any instruction for teams to start training.
FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala says the association has not yet been given the green light to commence football activities and is concerned with reports of clubs conducting training sessions.
“We are deeply concerned with reports of clubs resuming training without any clearance from either ourselves or the health authorities,” Kashala said.
“On our part, we have been engaging the Ministry Of Sports and also Health on the possibility of resuming football activities. In the absence of their clear green light, we cannot resume any football activities.”
“We are constantly engaging the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Health through the Zambia Health Institute and any resumption of football will be in line with the guidance from these bodies. We advise our members to keep safe and observe all the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health,” he added.
The MTN/FAZ Super League, all lower leagues and Women’s leagues were put on hold in March due to the Coronavirus epidemic.
ZamFoot sources at Football House in the past have indicated that the Association is targeting the halted 2019/20 season to resume by mid-July
