Fashion ruled out as Sven ropes in Chiluya and Gampy

Fashion Sakala has been ruled out of Sunday’s Cameroon 2019 AFCON qualifier against Mozambique due to an injury.

Coach Sven Vandenbroek has summoned Supersport United striker Gamphani Jones Lungu (Gampy) to take up his place in the team.

The Belgian has also summoned United States based defender Prosper Chiluya who is currently on a break to increase his options in defence.

The former Cameroon assistant coach is expected to have all the 21 players he has summoned in preparations for Mambas clash.

The Copper bullets need to pick up maximum points in this encounter to keep their dream of making it to Cameroon alive avoiding an embarrassing back to back absence at the AFCON.

The team will be in South Africa until Friday when they fly to Maputo.

    • Brian Mwila needs time to settle though he has already scored 2 goals for his club and played a few games. Best he isleft out for this one

  1. PERSONAL OPINION: When I look at Alex Ngonga, i dont think he is a bad player at all as perceived by many. In Nigeria during a world cup qualifier against super eagles, i remember how the nigerians defence toiled to ensure that Ngonga was kept on check.ngonga in my view is a fast paced player that we need in order to keep the oppostion busy thereby leaving chance for the likes of shonga to find the back of the net with relative ease. His stature, prowess and physical is what we need in our national team and currently lacking after the departure of the likes of collins mbesuma. I think the followers of the zambian super league will attest to this,Ngonga is a true fighter and can score on his day.Not a bad player to me! the coach should have given him a chance ahead of Bruce Musakanya who is just a passenger in the team.

  2. This game knows NO HOME advantage. The BRAVE WORRIORS went to Maputo with this attitude and came out victorious. If they could do it we can also DID IT come sunday.

Surely we cannot rob Afcon of our presence. We just have to be in Cameroon with Sven! This will be an explosive encounter with NAMIBIA and EQUETORIAL GUINEA interested in the outcome.

  3. Let Daka start in this match, we need strikers who pump pressure at all times, with the absence of fashion Sakala I think we need daka to start, also the experience of kalaba is needed from the first whistle. Solomon Sakala can give chance to silwiimba for now.don’t worry pipo we are qualifying to the tornament

  4. I’m surprised at the Fashion Sakala injury. He only played about 8 minutes over the weekend if I’m not mistaken.Anyway wish him quick recovery.

Let R.Kalaba start the game. We need his vast experience. I just have a FEELING RK will have a lot to say in this game.

C.Chama, Solomon Sakala to start from the bench. Patson D and Justin S to start as the two Top Men. E.Banda and R.Kalaba on the wings.

    • @Sibs Fashion has no injury. Does not want to come and sit on the bench and I understand him. Looks like a Stone Nyirenda case under late Zoom.

        • @Nostra it is not finishing him. He played 8 minutes as Sibs says. I am convinced he was not happy to be benched but he should asked the coach to give him the reasons why he was not amoung the 11 starting, that is the way players in Europe do. Ask ba coach why I have to start pa bench

I love the boy, had seen at the under20 World cup he is a fantastic player

          My advice

  5. @Justice mudala i was baffled when i heard about the injury issue? When did he get injured cos over the week end he was on the subs for his Belgian team and he played last few minutes. He needs to over come pride issues and come play for his country. He has a lot to offer to the team.

    • Sibs long time no see my man. Will you be going down to Mozambique?

Looks like Fashion is developing an attitude so early before we even certify him as a top top Zambian player. Considering there is an international break I think Brian could have been roped in for this one.

  6. I think Jacob Mulenge should have been called He can be used as supersub. I know they were some issues with him , but how the coach can talk to him matters

    • @Chula lol (Frog) Jacob has made it clear that he is not ready to play for Zambia. Let him earn as much as he can in China. He played his part and that is that. Asking for Jacob will lead some fans making requests for the inclusion of Mbesuma, Chamanga, Kalusha Bwalya etc

  7. This boy Fashion is digging his own grave, He is way too young to be demanding a starting place in the senior national team.He should consult Great Kalu on how long He waited before been introduced in the national team. Kalu was far better than him but was obedient enough to wait for his time. These boys Fashion and his victories Under 20 team mates have a glories chance to impress the nation with the upcoming Olympic qualifier of the Under 23 games starting in march next year.If they can make it to Olympics, national team positions will be guaranteed..

    • Well said, in fact the coach has been very kind regarding our pros in Europe as none of them has started a game with the exception of Lubambo Musonda the last 4 weeks. Most coaches would want to feature players that are regulars at their club.

Our pros need to start working hard and targeting to beat the record set by Kalusha and Charles Musonda who both played for big clubs in Europe (PSV and Anderlecht)

Most of the dudes are very young and with disciplin, determination and focus, nothing is impossible. There is no doubt in my mind the under20 I saw at the World cup is the best under20 I have ever seen put together in the history of Zambian football

The only issue I see is the goalkeeping position. Mweene does not play at his club but it seems we have no other option. The question is what happens if he gets inquired or gets a red card???

      God bless our team

  8. Is it that he refused to come or he is injured ( fashion )? The boy is going miles am telling u,the next two years he ll b our dependable striker. What about our 2012 striker mayuka he is completely finished or what? He can’t even feature for our national team now or how is the situation with him now.the guy is not so old, but still energetic.

    • Good question. I understand Mayuka is back at Kabwe warriors, is he actually playing? guys who watch the ZPL please advise.
