Faith Kaunda leads Kanyemba’s 37 member squad

National League side Zed Pro star player Faith Kaunda leads Zambia U17 National Women’s team provisional squad summoned by coach Carol Kanyemba.

The teenager is among the 37 players who have been named in Kanyemba’s provisional squad for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025 qualifiers set to begin in March.

The Copper Princesses will face Tanzania in a two-legged second-round clash. The first leg is scheduled for the first week of March, and the return leg is a week later.

Tanzania advanced to this stage after a walkover against Eswatini.

The selected players will undergo a one-week assessment camp to compete for spots in the final squad comprising players from the triumphant 2024 COSAFA U17 Girls Championship team led by the enterprising Mercy Chipasula.

Should Kanyemba’s side progress past Tanzania, they will face a third round encounter against the winners of the combined fixtures between Congo, Benin, DR Congo and Niger. This crucial tie will determine qualification for the World Cup.

Zambia will be looking to make it three appearances at the global showpiece in their age category having qualified to the 2014 and 2024 editions.

The FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025 marks a historic milestone as the first edition to be held on African soil and only the second hosted in an Arab nation, after Jordan’s hosting in 2016.
