Emmanuel Banda and Edward Chilufya off to Hungary ahead of imminent UCL debut

Zambian duo of winger Edward Chilufya and midfielder Emmanuel Banda is part of the Djurgadens IF 21-member squad that left for Hungary this morning ahead of their UEFA Champions League match tomorrow.

Chilufya and Banda have become very influential members of coach Kim Bergstrand’s squad are expected to be very vital in the team’s journey in Europe.

The 2017 U-20 AFCON winning duo are expected to make their debuts in Europe’s most prestigious competition.

The duo was on target over the weekend netting a goal each to help Stockholms stolthet beat Örebro 3-0 in a Swedish Allsvenskan encounter on Saturday.

Djurgadens will face Hungarian side Ferencvaros in the first qualifying round of the Champions League tomorrow at 19:00hrs at the Groupama Aréna in Budapest.

Should they manage to negotiate their way past Ferencvaros they will face either Scottish giants Celtic or Reykjavik who are waiting in the second qualifying round.

  1. Good luck to Banda and Chilufya tomorrow in Budapest in the Champions League qualifier. This is a wonderful opportunity for a couple of young Chipolopolo boys. Shout out to Mbesuma for scoring a goal today, and also would like to point out the fact that Sunzu has been playing a lot of minutes ( and scoring a goal recently) in China. Overall, things are looking good for the lads as we contemplate qualifying for the next Africa Cup and World Cup.
