The Zambia Women’s national team will take part in a four team tournament to be hosted by Turkey next month.
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has confirmed that the Copper Queens will face off with Turkey, Slovenia and Uzbekistan.
“The Zambia Senior Women’s National Team will take part in the Turkish Women’s Cup to be held from 13-22 February 2023 in the resort town of Alanya, Turkey.”
The Copper Queens will be using the contest to prepare for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand in July.
At the Turkish Women’s Cup, Zambia will open their campaign against the hosts Turkey on 15 February at the Miracle Sport Complex before entertaining Slovenia three days later at the same venue.
The tournament is being played on a round-robin basis and the Copper Queens will play their third and final match against Uzbekistan on 21 February at the Miracle Sports Complex.
2022 was a magnificent year for women’s football both in Zambia & England.
After a triumphant effort in the EUROS, the Lionesses have vowed to replicate their form at the World Cup in 2023. Their quest for glory started with Russo’s strike against Austria on the 3rd of September, 2022. Meanwhile Zambia’s Copper Queens were busy plotting their World Cup qualification journey at WAFCON in Morocco where they met their bare minimum by qualifying to the biggest tournament in women’s football without some key players.
While the trio of Russo, Toone, & Mead psyche themselves for the showpiece in Austria & Newzealand, Zambia’s Barbra Banda , Racheal Kundananji, & Grace Chanda can’t wait to reunite and showcase their God given talents.
As a huge fan of English and Zambian football I can’t wait for our girls to play against Europe’s very best😇😇😇.
I know they are miles ahead but I know the Copper Queens would love the test.
Wishing the ladies well in their preparations. Go win that Turkish Cup
