Sichone Summons 30 for AFCON Local Camp

By FAZ Media

The Chipolopolo have kick-started preparations for the Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Coach Moses Sichone summoning 30 local players for camp this weekend.

Sichone and his technical bench will hold a local camp before the team heads out for a pre-tournament international camp.

The 30 are part of the 55-member CAF mandatory provisional submission, which stands to be trimmed to either 28 or 23 for the final tournament.

All the 24-teams have submitted 55-member provisional lists to give them leeway to replace players in the final squad in case of injury or any other circumstances.

CAF has given participating teams up to December 11 to submit their final 28-member squads.

The final squad must be picked from the 55-member list submitted to CAF with teams given the option of submitting 23 players whose tab falls fully on CAF while associations that opt to carry 28 players will pay for the extras as per tournament guidelines.

FAZ has lined up some international friendly matches during the international camp.

The Chipolopolo is placed in Group A alongside Morocco, Mali and Comoros.

Morocco hosts the AFCON which is scheduled to kickoff on December 21 to January 18.
