Copper Queens suffer another heavy defeat in Korea

The Zambia Women’s National Team were handed a second heavy defeat away in Korea to end their April FIFA Women’s window Asian tour on a losing note.

Coach Bruce Mwape made three changes to teb team that started the 5-2 humiliation on Friday.

Mary Mulenga, Mary Wilombe and Ochumba Oseke Lubanji came in for Esther Siamfuko, Ireen Lungu and Evarine Susan Katongo respectively.

The Copper Queens had a better start to the game than on Friday containing the hosts with Ochumba Oseke Lubanji coming close after being put through on goal by Skipper Barbra Banda.

However things changed in the 32nd minute after Barbra Banda conceded a penalty, with a clumsy challenge.

Brighton and Hove Albion forward Lee Geummin stepped up and dispatched with easy. Two minutes later, Park Eunseon doubled the lead.

In the second half Lee added a third with a beautiful strike from outside the area before completing the hat-trick from the spot.

Park Eunseon completed the scoring with a fine header in the dying minutes to seal the big win for the Asian Tigers.

The two games have seen the Copper Queens concede ten goals in two games, scoring just two against the 17th ranked team in the World.

The two teams were using the two matches as part of their preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

South Korea is in Group H alongside Morocco, Colombia, and Germany.

Zambia are in Group C alongside Spain, Japan and Costa Rica. The World Cup will kick off on July 20 in Australia/New Zealand.

  1. Coach Bruce Mwape should seriously improve on his tactics. There is no way you can start a game with only one recognized midfielder. This game just like the previous game was lost because the coach’s tactics failed.
Nachula, Kundananji, Barbara and Grace Chanda can not all start at the same time especially when you are playing against tactically superior opponents like the South Koreans. Avell Chitudu or Misozi Zulu should be reinstated in that team to balance up the midfielder just like it was at Wafcon.
Finally, Vast Phiri should be the direct replacement to Lushomo Mweemba. These others still have some learning to do before they become regulars at the national team.
Lessons learnt. We should get back to working on our mistakes

    • APhiri…perfectly anaylised akwasu 👌🏿 aba aBemba AMwape is surely leading us to a comedy of errors 🙈🙈 World Cup, kaya🤷🏿‍♀️ is it too late to change??

  2. The team has lost 10-2 on aggregate. Useless performance and coach not fit enough to coach high level football

    • Am sorry he s not even qualified to be a coach by the way who imployed him? Went there as tourist? Shame to FAZ ! U must be seriousy faz football is business but I don’t know in Zambia. How can u imploye a soccer fan and u expect him to deliver good result? U take him to the world cup and see if the team will go and score even a single goal there.

  3. Hevre Renard is now officially coach of the French Women’s Team. This is after a few of the French players did not want to Play for the previous head coach. I was looking for Renard to coach the Men’s French team and looks like the French Federation have had their eyes on Renard.
Well good for him and he obviously filling in because the French Women’s team was about implode if they did not get a steadying hand.

  4. I said it before and will say it again. Attach a proven coach with great tactical acumen to the team otherwise we are in for a huge embarrasment at the World Cup. Bruce Mwape with all due respects has limited technical abilities and cannot improve between now and the worldcup. He relies on the lady’s skills to win games and sadly you cannot do that at this level. FAZ get your act together before it’s too late.

    • Who Is going to examine football in Zambia?
The Faz with their analyst or people of Zambia?
Some footballing countries get some views from fans for football is for fans, and others they have good associations which watch over the development of football in their countries so people from there has nothing to complain much but to understand and support,
We are heading to the women world cup, do the coach keep in touch with the players, does he always motivate the regular players to work extra hard by training Everytime whenever they feel to?
It important to identify areas needed to be worked out for better results,
Is this problem coming from Faz,the coach and his technical advisers or the players?
See from the time we played the last women Africa cup of nations tournament (Nigeria)our performance is very poor i,nspite of winning the cosafa championship,we went to turkey, but we didn’t displayed good football time there, therefore alot need to be done starting from the Faz until to the players,
My area of concerns is the coaching system please please let the coach select good Players Like misozi and chitundu should not be left out
Then the coach must be sharp in reading the football

  5. If there are any lessons Korea has picked from these games:

    #1
That they can concede goals by mistake.

    #2
That they have had two (2) sessions of physical training against tourists.

    #3
That these friendly games have left them WORSEOFF because they are not sure whether they are technically ready or not.

    4#
That they have learned all there is to learn from Zambian football. No need for future friendly games.

    #5
That Japan, Spain & Costa Rica are so so lucky they already have three (03) free points each.

    #6
They wish they can hire Barbra and her team mates as a bustele / praise team (They do it with passion). Thank goodness they don’t play with such energy.

    #7.
That maybe South Africa, Morocco, or Nigeria would have been better opponents to help assess their capacity against African teams.

    # Shepolopolo kuwayawaya fye.

Lets see what the poorly prepared U17 will offer this monthend.
