The Zambia Women’s national team have maintained their 13th rank in Africa on the FIFA Coca-Cola Rankings.
The Copper Queens are ranked 103 in the World maintaining their rank from March. This follows the new FIFA Coca-Cola Rankings announced today and monitored by the ZamFoot Crew.
Nigeria remains as the top most ranked team in Africa (39) in the World, Cameroon (54), South Africa (58) , Ghana (59) and Ivory Coast (64) completed the top five for the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Zambia’s other opponents in Group B at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) Tunisia and Togo are ranked 6th (72nd in the World ) and 16th (118 in the world) respectively.
The top three in the World Ranking is unchanged. USA (1st, -) lead the way from Sweden (2nd, -) and France (3rd, -), though there is a change just below. Beaten by Serbia (36th, +2) in an Australia/New Zealand 2023 qualifier, Germany (5th, -1) drop down to fifth, allowing Netherlands (4th, +1) to jump ahead of them.
The latest FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking is also the biggest yet, with Seychelles (160th, -), Burundi (169th, -) and British Virgin Islands (174th, -) taking the total number of teams now included in it to 181 from FIFA’s 211 member associations.
The Copper Queens are currently in Morocco preparing for the AWCON which will run from July 2-23.
The Top four teams at the AWCON which will run from July 3-23 in Morocco will qualify for the World Cup that will be held in Australia and New Zealand next year.
Two more teams will be involved in play-offs with teams from other continents.
