The Zambia Women’s national team had a recovery session on Friday following their 2-0 win over Namibia on Thursday at the ongoing COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa.
The Queens have already put the win behind them and are focused on Sunday’s clash against Lesotho.
Assistant coach Florence Mwila says the team will take each game as it comes and with the target of winning.
“Today’s training was basically a recovery for those that played and the continuous training for those that did not play. We will take each game as it comes as it comes. We won’t take any game lightly, we go into every game with one goal of winning,” she said.
Goalkeeper Agness Fabiola Banda expects both teams to go for the win and hence a good game on Sunday afternoon.
“Today’s training was good. The game against Lesotho will be a good game. We both will go into the match looking to win so we will definitely give it our all,” Banda told the ZamFoot Crew.
Meanwhile winger Xiomara Mapepa has reiterated the teams’ target of winning the tournament.
“It was a good training session, us who played the game against Namibia had a good recovery session while those who did not play had a normal session, so that we can be on the same level,” she said.
” We need to put in more effort so that we can get a win on Sunday. We need to put extra effort because we as a team want to win this COSAFA Cup,” she added.
Skipper Barbra Banda scored twice as Zambia claimed a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Namibia in their 2022 COSAFA Women’s Championship Group B opener at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Thursday.
Zambia will return to the pitch on Sunday when they take on Lesotho who recorded a 3-0 win over Eswatini in their opening match thanks to a hat-trick by captain Boitumelo Rabale.
