Defending champions Zambia women’s national football team will face Namibia women’s national football team in the first semi-final of the COSAFA Women’s Championship at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday.
Kick-off is scheduled for 12h00 CAT as the Copper Queens aim to defend their regional crown and secure a place in the final.
The second semi-final will see hosts South Africa women’s national soccer team take on Zimbabwe women’s national football team at the same venue, with kick-off set for 15h00 CAT, as the race for continental bragging rights intensifies in Polokwane.
How They Got Here
Namibia sealed their place in the last four after Mozambique women’s national football team claimed a decisive 2–0 victory over Madagascar women’s national football team.
Madagascar needed only a draw to progress as group leaders but were undone on the day, opening the door for the Brave Gladiators to advance.
Zambia topped Group B with an unbeaten record of two wins and a draw, collecting seven points. They finished level on points with Zimbabwe, who advanced as the best runners-up.
Eyes on a Third Crown
Head coach Charles Haalubono will look to key players such as Eneless Phiri, Saliya Mwanza, Avell Chitundu, and Kabange Mupopo to inspire the team as they chase a third regional title.
The Copper Queens lifted the COSAFA crown in 2022 and 2024, and finished runners-up in 2019 and 2023 — underlining their consistency as one of the region’s dominant forces.
With momentum on their side and silverware within reach, Zambia will be determined to take another decisive step toward regional supremacy on Friday.
