The Zambia Women National Team has left for South Africa for Tuesday’s second leg, final round Morocco 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) match against Namibia.
In the first leg the two teams drew 0-0 at Nkoloma Stadium.
Coach Bruce Mwape will be without skipper Barbara Banda who is sidelined due to injury.
Mwape also confirmed last week that right back Margaret Belemu has been excused from the second leg to allow her discussions regarding a potential move to China to be concluded as soon as possible.
“It’s not only Barbara Banda (who will miss the game), even (Margaret) Belemu will also not be part of the team. She will be leaving the same day we will be playing (on Tuesday); she’s going to China but we have replacements for both of them,” Mwape said.
Mwape’s lasses have however been boosted by the availability of winger Misozi ‘CR7’ Zulu who missed the first leg.
Misozi returns to the Copper Queens fold after a long absence that included missing out on the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games (played in 2021).
The Hakkarigucu Spor star in the Turkcell Kadin Futbol Ligi believes the team will utilise their chances this time around.
“We have to utilise all chances and score goals, the chances we have, we need to score, we don’t have to miss any,” she said.
The second leg will take place on Wednesday in Johannesburg.
The winner over two legs will qualify to the Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations that will take place from July 2-23 in Morocco.
Top four teams at the tournament will qualify to FIFA World Cup that will be staged in Australia/New Zealand in 2023.
