Copper Queens quartet win medals in Kazakhstan up

Copper Queens quartet won their first medals in Kazakhstan on Wednesday in the Women’s Cup. 

Midfield magician Ireen Lungu scored a brace to help BIIK Kazyugurt Shymkent to a 3-0 win over  Okzhetpes to win the Kazakhstan Women’s Cup. 

Kazyugurt finished top of the group with nine points ahead of Tomoris Turan, The Cup was played by 4 teams in round robin format. 

Defender Martha Tembo and striker Hellen Chanda were also involved in the match. 

The Cup is Shymkent’s 12th in the last 13 years and 13th overall Cup title.  

Meanwhile Goalkeeper Catherine Musonda kept a clean sheet for her new team Turan who cruised to a 5-0 win over SDYuSShOR 17  to finish second and win silver in the Kazakhstan Women’s Cup. 

Musonda was making her debut for the team having made her switch to the club earlier this month. 

Turan finished second to BIIK Kazyugurt Shymkent with six points from three games.
