The Zambia U17 National Team will soon leave for the Dominican Republic ahead of the 2024 U17 Women’s World Cup after the VISA hitches that rocked the team were resolved.
The Copper Princesses were scheduled to leave for the global showpiece earlier but were hit with VISA hitches hence delaying to depart.
FAZ President Andrew Kamanga confirmed the development in his Weekly write up, the President’s corner. Kamanga says the team could play a friendly match or two in the Dominican Republic.
The Carol Kanyemba coached side were expected to have a camp in Europe which did not materialise.
“Our under-17 girls will set off for Santa Domingo this week after having been delayed by some visa glitches. We are happy that everything is now resolved and the team is set to leave soon for the Dominican Republic. With the tournament kicking off on October 16, there is a window to adapt and possibly play one or two international friendly matches with some teams in other groups,” Kamanga wrote.
“The team has been camped locally for over a month and is expected to be in good shape by the time they play their opening match. Zambia is in Group D alongside Brazil, Japan and Poland.”
The tournament will be held in the Dominican Republic from 16 October – 4 November, 2024.
The Copper Princesses will open their campaign against Brazil on 18 October 2024 at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo before their penultimate group phase match against Poland three days later at the same stadium.
They will wrap up their group match against Japan on 23 October, 2024.

Briliant FAZ.
Lets just 📌 on Viza issue. Perfect excuse to deny the squad well deserved exposure in Europe. If that genuinely failed, friendly matches with Nigeria and Kenya would have helped hut yeah… Kamanga & Co are doing their best to thoroughly prepare the deam & avoid dissapointing results.
