COSAFA Women’s Championship Draw set for today

The Zambia Women National Team will learn their path to the HOLLYWOODBETS COSAFA Women’s Championship title when the draws are made at COSAFA House in Johannesburg on Tuesday, October 8.

The draw will be conducted at COSAFA House in Johannesburg today at 12h00 and will be streamed live on COSAFA’s YouTube Channel and Facebook Page.

The 2022 champions will take part in the expanded tournament that will be held in Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth) and has attracted participation from 14 countries for the first time in the competition’s history. 

The Copper Queens will be looking to end the year on a high at the regional tournament that will run from October 22-November 2, having finished as runner-up last year to Malawi in the final.

Hosts South Africa, defending champions Malawi and 2022 winners Zambia will be joined by Angola, Botswana, Comoros, and Eswatini in the competition.

Other nations that will compete at the tournament include Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius,Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles and Zimbabwe.

According to COSAFA, the teams will be split into four groups, two containing four teams and two with three nations. The four group winners will qualify for the semi-finals. 

There will be two venues used in Gqeberha, including the iconic Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium which was built ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and remains among the best stadia in Africa.
