Zambian midfield genius Clatous Chota Chama was over the weekend named Emirate Aluminum Simba Fans Player of the Month for April after he collected over half of the votes cast.
The former ZESCO United and Lusaka Dynamos midfielder defeated goalkeeper Aishi Manula and right-back Shomari Kapombe to collect the award. The award is sponsored by the Emirate Aluminum Profile, and gives a chance to the five best performing Simba players to compete before being reduced to three by a special committee and later voted on by fans until the winner is determined.
The boy from Mansa becomes the third player to take the award since it was first introduced in February with Mozambican star Luis Jose Miquissone winning the inaugural accolade followed by defender Joash Onyango.
In April alone, Chama netted three goals and assisted five goals in seven appearances for Wekundu wa Msimbazi.
Here is a breakdown of the votes cast:
Clatous Party – 50.48%
Aishi Manula – 30.74%
Shomari Kapombe – 18.78%
