Zambia assistant coach Andrew Sinkala has been excused from the Chipolopolo’s training camp in Algeria to attend to personal matters ahead of Friday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Sinkala, who is based in Germany, contacted the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to request permission to leave the camp, according to FAZ Secretary General Charles Chakatazya.
“We would have loved to have a full technical bench, but Sinkala called and said he had some personal matters to handle and asked to be excused,” Chakatazya said.
Sinkala is part of George Lwandamina’s technical team as Zambia prepare to face Algeria in their Group I qualifier at Stade Hocine Aït Ahmed in Tizi-Ouzou on Friday.
Meanwhile, former Zambia international goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene has joined the technical bench as goalkeeper coach.
Mweene was part of the Zambia squad that won the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
The Chipolopolo have been training at Tirsathone Stadium during their week-long stay in Algeria and will continue preparations ahead of Friday’s encounter.
Zambia will return home immediately after the match to prepare for their second Group I fixture against Togo on Tuesday, 29 September.
