Gampani Lungu and Joseph Liteta have completed Zambia’s squad in Algeria ahead of Friday’s crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the hosts.
The duo were the final players to arrive in camp as coach George Lwandamina’s squad continues preparations for the Group I encounter.
Liteta arrived late on Monday night, while Lungu landed in Algeria in the early hours of Tuesday and travelled straight to the team hotel, where he joined his teammates for breakfast.
Their arrival means all the players summoned for the Algeria assignment are now in camp.
Lwandamina has been encouraged by the attitude and commitment shown by the players since the start of preparations.
Meanwhile, German-based assistant coach Andrew Sinkala has been excused from the camp to attend to personal matters.
“We would have loved to have a full technical bench, but Sinkala called and said he had some personal matters to handle and asked to be excused,” FAZ Secretary General Charles Chakatazya said.
Chakatazya confirmed that former Zambia international goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene, a member of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations-winning squad, has joined the technical team as goalkeeper coach.
The fully assembled Chipolopolo squad is scheduled to return to training on Tuesday afternoon at Tirsathone Stadium, which has been their training base during their week-long stay in Algeria.
Zambia face Algeria on Friday, 25 September, at Stade Hocine Aït Ahmed in Tizi-Ouzou, before returning home immediately after the match.
The Chipolopolo will then turn their attention to their second Group I fixture against Togo on Tuesday, 29 September, at home.
