Chris Katongo out for two weeks

CHRISTOPHER Katongo has been ruled out of action for two weeks following a muscle injury.

The former Chipolopolo captain on Sunday missed Green Buffaloes’ 1-0 away victory to Power Dynamos due to the injury.

Buffaloes assistant coach Noel Mwandila said in an interview that Katongo sustained the injury during last week’s 3-0 loss to Green Eagles.

“He has an injury he sustained [during a game] against Green Eagles, so he is still recovering; he is going for physio so he will be out of two weeks,” said Mwandila.

The 2012 Africa Cup-winning captain returned to his former club after 11 years of playing professional football in Africa, Europe and Asia.

    • The best chance for Chris Katongo to leave GBFC, it simply not fitting for him. He should rush to India or Thailand,…. just somewhere it doesn’t matter.

  1. Wishing Chris, my idol, all the speedy come back. If AFRICA had such dedicated players, winning the World Cup would one day be s reality. COME BACK, Chris & contribute to he beauty of the game in ZAMBIA.

  2. we know both side of kalu. his success and his corrupt practices which r more than the benefits he has brot to zambian football as an administrator

    • Well said. Kalusha has become a liability and he is now a stumbling block to advancement of Zambian football. When are we going to realise this?

  3. Good to see that GBFC are a team that really looks after its own. Noel Mwandila is assistant coach. Loyalty does pay after all. Well done GBFC.

Get well soon Chris but alos wind down a little bit. Your work rate on the field of play is legendary but don’t forget a few other very important things in life as well like your kids and your health. Keep playing as long as your legs can carry you on the field of play but my advise, tone it down just a tad bit. A good example is Stevie Gerard at Liverpool, he toned it down and even switched positions in the last two seasons in the EPL.

SIMATAA Simataa says the U-turn by FAZ on its earlier decision to prevent anyone from contesting next year’s elections is a good development but that the association is not worth trusting.
In an interview, Simataa said such unstable decisions were key reasons FAZ could not be trusted. “The change of heart is a positive development but these guys are not worth being trusted. What guarantee is there that come December or March, they won’t change again?” he asked.
Simataa said the football association had become the centre of controversy where policies were being made outside the constitution and without engaging all relevant authorities.
“Somebody just feels football should be run at his own volition. That’s wrong because it’s not being run the way it’s supposed to,” he said.
Simataa said FAZ should instead be run through committees, in adherence to the constitution and in a unitary executive where all committees were involved, instead of the current situation where the FAZ president makes all decisions.

    • @Paradox, Simataa puts up the truth as it really is. Kalu and his crooks are trying rig this coming election and they need to be stopped.

  5. This crap about Kalu being corrupt is being propagated by mentally weak and egoistic men. Kalu and all these guys have been around FAZ for over 15 years and in different positions. If indeed there was rampant corruption as alleged why can’t anyone bring it out?

All we have are innuendos. Let us bring the faulty to the fore without malice which i think in back in the days made Simata/Kamanga alliance less appealing. Am defending Kalu like i would anyone who finds himself unfairly in the line of such damage unsubstantiated allegations.

Bring your agenda, what you want to do for the game and how you intend to improve it as this is always the desire of any well meaning Zambian. Stop the nonsense. We end up voting wrong people in the because of unscrupulous propaganda. The desire to seek better levels is the driving force but civility must be observed.

Today a lot of youths hide behind their smartphones and pseudonyms to insult and demean people because of the veil
