Green Buffaloes have unveiled Aggrey Chiyangi as their new head coach as earlier reported by the ZamFoot Crew.
Chiyangi has penned a two year deal with the Zambia army sponsored outfit completing his switch
Chiyangi, 61, had attracted interest from three MTN Super League sides ahead of the 2025/2026 season.
The former Power Dynamos star took High Flying Nkwazi to new heights as head coach, and his success didn’t go unnoticed.
Chiyangi replaces Masauso Tembo who parted ways with the club recently following a less than impressive 2024/2025 MTN Super League campaign.
Chiyangi started his coaching career at Power Dynamos, he was assistant to late Ben Bamfuchile before moving to Chambishi
Chiyangi led Chambishi to the 2007 Barclays Cup final against Zesco United.
He enjoyed a successful spell at Green Eagles between 2017 and 2022. He made them a formidable side who finished in the top five and played continental football regularly.
In 2018, Eagles finished in 4th position which earned the club qualification to the CAF Confederations Cup. Their best position came in the 2019 season, where they finished in 2nd place and subsequently qualified for the CAF Champions League.
In July 2019, Eagles made a debut at the CECAFA Kagame Cup in Rwanda where they were bronze winners after beating AS Maniema Union of DR Congo 2–0 in the third and fourth place playoff match in Kigali.
On 24 August 2019, Green Eagles eliminated South Africa’s Orlando Pirates from the CAF Champions League competition as they drew 1–1 in a preliminary round, second leg match at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg.
Tonka Tweende won the tie 2–1 on aggregate having edged the first leg 1–0 in Lusaka, Zambia two weeks earlier.
Chiyangi has also coached Zanaco, Nkana and Nchanga Rangers . On the international scene, he led Zambia to the 2019 Cosafa triumph.
As a player, he won multiple titles at boyhood club Power Dynamos including the Mandela Cup. He played in the 1994 African Cup of Nations final against Nigeria.
